No. I have one in my room though. DS won't have one
in his room. First-if I get tired of what he's watching-the
TV goes off. Second-DS doesn't watch that much TV. The
TV pretty much comes on in our house only by prearrangement.
We read, we play games, go outside, we use our other toys and
tools like the microscope. Last night we spent an hour looking
at slides. I watch the news in the morning while I get
ready for work-no TV for DS. I turn on my TV after 9 when
DS is in bed. Ds has certain shows he likes to watch and
otherwise we watch Discovery channel or sometimes
National Geographic(although much of the latter is forensic
science and not appropriate.) He likes Bill Nye, Jimmy Neutron
and Sponge Bob Squarepants. When he's sick, he watches
lots of TV or I read to him. A TV caused my brother to
completely withdraw as an adolescent. My nephew is well
on his way to staying shut up in his room too. I don't
think it's wise and in our case would only serve to shut down
the communication options in our household.
