I was just having this discussion the other day with a friend I am really against it for my kids. I just dont see a need for having more than three TV's in the house. We have one in our room, one in the family room and one my office here. I just think ( for now at least ) that they should have to try to take turns on figuring out what to watch.

So how about you?

Our DD has a TV in her room, but she rarely watches it. She likes the big TV in the living room better. When her friends come over and watch TV, I usually send them downstairs or into her room so DH and I can watch the big TV (in peace). :D

Yes John-Cole has a TV in his room but he plays his Playstation on it more than he actually watches TV.

No, and I am going to fight this if it comes up. We are very restrictive as to what our DDs watch and with a TV in their bedroom, we'd have less control. Besides, kids watch enough TV as it is, why make it that much more available?

Nope. And they won't until they are teenagers and can earn the money to buy one themselves.

No. Totally unnecessary. There's a TV in the family room and another in the playroom which is only a few feet away from their room. Sleepovers are usually in the playroom. My oldest is at college and he doesn't have one in his dorm room either -- and won't have one funded by us.

Yes and it's for one reason only....I like to be able to watch my TV in the livingroom! But they have times for the TV to go off at night and if they turn it back on the TV goes out of the room.

Oldest DS does have one with a vcr, but my youngest doesnt yet. I dont see any difference between them watching that one, and any other one. I dont let him watch it at night when hes going to sleep. It very rarely get used actually. Mostly when 1 kid is in the tub, and I would prefer to have the other one upstairs with me too. Or when Im cooking in the kitchen and have the living tv on the news, I dont mind them popping in a video in the bedroom. The only channel that gets watched in there is PBS, and of course Disney videos.

Yes...we don't have a family room, so there's one in Martin's room for the Nintendo. Since Ryan's getting Game Cube for Christmas, we'll add a TV to his room also. Neither one likes to watch upstairs, they always come down to the living room to watch TV.

(I don't worry about what they might see on TV, unsupervised upstairs. Their TV is wired to the cablebox in my bedroom, and my TV is kept on the Nikelodeon channel for that purpose ;) )

My DD has has one in her room. She didn't ask for it. She just got it b/c I was tired of watching Nick, Cartoon Network, and her movies. She also has a VCR and DVD player. I can only watch Shrek so many times. :D

No....we do have a TV/VCR combo that is in our closet and used as a reward. We will reward DD#1 with keeping it in her room for a night if she has accomplished/improved on something. DD#2 is still too young for this type of reward.

i don't have kids yet, but i didn't have atv in my bedroom growing up, and i doubt any kid of mine will either. :D
