Do your kids have a TV in their room?

DD does not have one in her room. I did when I was growing up (little black and white thing, had a hanger shoved into it for reception til I was in middle school and got a decent one). I just don't think she really needs it. She has one in her playroom, no reception but it does have a DVD player hooked up to it. She watches a ton of TV - drives me nuts - but there's just no place for it in her room.

No, not in the bedroom. There is an extra tv in the playroom, but it isn't hooked up to cable, so it is just used for DVD's, nintendo and karaoke.

DS-15 has computer, psp, TV with Dish, ps2
DD-10 computer, tv with Dish (but we share it in living room what he
sees we see), nintendo
DS-7 tv with Dish, and CD player.

DS 15 and DS 10 are usually together play ps2, they have no T or MA rated games. DS15 usually only watches military channel. DS-10 only watches NICK and DD-7 what ever channel Hannah or Raven is on. :happytv: They are not allowed to use during school nights and we have an "open door" policy.

At night they are usually in the Den with us piled up watching the Astros or a movie. DH has commented "why do they have all this stuff if they end up with us all the time?" But, we love it. :grouphug: They'll be on their own before we know it.

What, no BlackBerry or Palm Pilot?

Nope, they want Sidekicks. :) However, they will have to hock the stuff they have now if they want one, lol. Funds are low these days, so what they have now will have to last them until they move out.

I think it very much depends on the child. My eldest son would be wrapped up in TV all day if I let him have one in his room. He has the type of personality (and I do think it's a personality *type*) that gets hooked into electronic items like playstation and ipods immediately and goes into his own world when watching/playing. My niece and nephew, on the other hand, both have TVs in their room and they rarely watch them. My son got an iPod (half his savings and half paid by us) for his 13th birthday and we've had to limit the time he spends on it - like I say he gets hooked.

So a lot depends on your own child/ren and how 'drawn' they are to electronic entertainment. To each his own.

Twin DD's do not and they have never really asked for one. They do have one in their computer room, but that's downstairs.

DS16 does not have a TV in his room.
Although I did purchase one for him for his 16th birthday... he was told it was for the basement, where he could hook up his playstation or xbox. At least the basement is "public" space in our house. If he were to put it in his bedroom, we might never see him.

DS(4) has a dvd/tv combo in his room. It isn't hooked up to the satelitte dish so we just put movies on for him. He only watches that tv right before bedtime. DD(9) has the same dvd/tv combo in her room and has the satelitte hooked up but we programed it so she cannot watch any shows not PG/G rated. She only watches the Disney channel anyway. She watches it nbefore bedtime too. She also has a laptop that I let her use maybe 3-4 times a week and also have that programed so she can only go on the 4 sites I want. She also has a cellphone but it can only call 911 and 4 other numbers we program into it.
My kids both like playing the Wii but that's not in their rooms.

Mine do (ages 4 and 14), but when we buy a bigger house and have a family room (along with a formal living room), we'll most likely take them out. My youngest only watches a movie occasionally on his and my oldest will watch a show every once in a while and play video games on his, but I'd rather they do those things in a family room.
