DD is in school right now. She was in from trick or treating by 8:00 and in bed by 9:30. I'm off since the high school only had a half a day which means no lunch is served.
After you put up your poll and included the "religious reasons" option, I recalled that tomorrow IS All Saint's Day. So perhaps if the kids go to Catholic school, they do not have school tomorrow.
Our oldest went to a Catholic college and they did not have classes on the Holy Days.
My kids are both in school today. DD7 had the normal amount of homework last night and a big test today. DS5 (kindergarten) is having his Halloween party today. They also have All Saints mass this morning (Catholic school) so I think the kindergarten teachers scheduled out their day with the understanding that the 5 year olds might have a hard time functioning today
I wouldn't let them stay home unless they were sick. They were in bed by 8:30 last night--just a bit later than normal. They are out later than that when we go to school activities scheduled at night, like concerts and such.
I answered #1, but today there is no school because of parent teacher conferences. for the kids at DD's school. It's not happened like that before, but because Halloween fell on a Thursday they were able to do it. (PT conferences are on a Wed afternoon and all day Thurs since Wed is a half-day always)
My DD is lucky. She is in year round school and is tracked out during Halloween so she gets to go to the Y camp and play instead of going to school. That's a bonus to her.
Your daughter's trying to get away with something. As a teacher, I can assure you that the day after Halloween is NOT an acceptable skip day among most of the students. Absences are about the same as any other school day.
Actually, she wasn't. She was just telling me what her friends do. I stated in my original post (as quoted in yours ) that she wasn't giving me a hard time about going to school.
