Do your dogs sleep in bed with you?

The dogs will sometimes get on the bed if we're watching tv, but they aren't allowed on there when we sleep, they take up too much room.

Roxie sleeps with us all the time. She jumps on and off with no problems at all. If we are watching TV or reading she lies in the middle on the bottom of the bed. When I turn on my side to sleep she curls up in the crook of my knees.

Our three cockers got a little crowded. Toward the end we had to have pet steps because of hip and back issues. Still miss those guys!

Not anymore. The first couple years we had our chocolate lab she was allowed to sleep on the bed (see my profile pic), and we liked snuggling with her (although it did get annoying when I couldn't get enough of the blanket and sheets). The thing that made us condemn her to the floor was that there were just WAY too much dog hair in our sheets and blanket. Even when we groomed her, there still would be tons of hair. And the worst part was you couldn't easily fluff them off; these were mostly tiny hairs that got themselves embedded into the threading... we just couldn't stand sleeping on all that hair.

If she didn't shed so much I'm sure she'd still be on the bed with us!

No we do not let the dog sleep with us. She has her own bed in our room. I also don't allow her on the furniture. We've had quite a few dogs over the years none have been allowed on the furniture or in our bed. Our last husky used to sleep with my son when he was young if he wanted to put up with the hair that was his decision.

Much to the dismay of my partner and her dog, no, the dog does not sleep with us. I tried it, but kept getting pushed out of the way (by the dog, not my GF ) and I don't like that. Sometimes one of my cats is in the room and sleeps with us, but usually asks to go out (the door is normally closed) during the night and if the cat keeps us awake, they are booted out of the room. The dog does sleep in the room on a doggy bed.

As to the furniture, there is one chair-in-a-half in the living room that has been the "cat couch" and with my partner's dog here now, it's been renamed the "pet couch", although that doesn't have the same ring to it that cat couch does. :rotfl: Otherwise, the dog is not allowed on the human couch, however the cats do sleep on it sometimes. If I could keep them off it without losing my sanity, I would do so, but since I haven't successfully kept them off the table, I am choosing my battles. The kitchen counters is where I draw the line!

Sleeping with me is part of Lucy's job. She is a diabetic alert dog and wakes me up if my sugar drops during the night (and yes, it has happened.)

I would be sad if my dogs didn't sit on the couch with me.

Nope. Our 7 month old lab mix sleeps in a crate in the living room. My bedroom is the cats' safe room and the dog is not allowed in there. The dog actually likes her crate and always has. We just tell her to go to her room or that it's bedtime and she goes in by herself. She sleeps there during the day sometimes with the door open. :)

Sophie is our lab puppy, and she sleeps downstairs in her crate. She is not allowed upstairs because that is where the cats live most of the time.

We started out not letting Sophie get on the furniture, but she is petrified of the vacuum cleaner, and started jumping on the couch whenever she saw it. DH and the kids like to cuddle with her on the couch (although she is not much of a cuddly dog in general), so I finally relented.

Our three mini dachshunds sleep with us. We had a ramp built for them to get on the bed since their little legs are so short! :)

oh yes! two of them, a Boxer and a chihuahua, the big fellow , the golden Retriver sleeps by the door. He is the guardian, and always keeps on sight the door.:cool1:

Our lab absolutely did until he got too old to jump on the bed (it has storage drawers underneath and is higher than average).

Our current dog does not get on the bed unless asked to do so. He has a dog bed next to our bed and sleeps there. He does however think the couches belong to him and will often curl up into a little ball (he is a 70lb pointer and can get surprisingly compact) and try to blend into the couch so he doesn't get kicked off.

Yea I'm not sure it's even an option for a dachshund NOT to sleep with you! Ours is shorthaired and he gets cold (seriously) without a person's body heat at night. He also leaves no hair. Oh and since he despises water, he is never wet or muddy. He's a lot like having a warm-blooded teddy bear other than a dog!

We have 3 small dogs and one large golden retriever. The 3 small dogs sleep with humans, one with my DS, one with my DD, one with DH and I. The golden won't sleep with us, we've tried, she doesn't like it. I have to pick up my dog and put her on the bed, she use to be able to jump, but she's almost 10 now.

This is Buzz [Lightyear], our German Shepherd/Retriever mix. As evidenced, he definitely sleeps with us lol. He alternates between the bed and the floor throughout the night, but mostly the bed. BF and I work opposite schedules, so there's usually only one of us in bed at a time.

Our (small) dog gets in our bed at night when she is tired, then we will lay down for a little while, when I know I am ready to go to sleep, I move her to her crate. Usually she is fine, ever now and then she might bark for a few minutes.

I would just let her sleep with us all night, except when we go on vacations and she stays at my parents' home, I want her to still be able to sleep in her crate.

We started off with 2 Bostons. They started sleeping with us when they were pretty young. As they got bigger, they started to aggravate me at night. They would try to sleep against my back, and when I tried to move them, they were dead weight and wouldn't budge. :rolleyes2 I kept waking up with back pain, but wasn't sure if it was because of the dogs or not. We finally kicked them out of bed and my back pain stopped. So they no longer sleep with us. They sleep on the sofa. Plus, we now have a 3rd Boston (a foster we decided to keep) and I felt bad letting two sleep with us but not the 3rd. DS wants the dogs to sleep with him, but for some reason they don't stay in his room.

No. She sleeps in the room, but not on our bed or on any of our furniture. I love her, but she needs to know she's a dog.;)

We are allowed to sleep on the bed with our two big goldens and our skinny (in his mind) 20# cat.

One dog will clean the other dog and the cat before going to sleep. He thinks he is a cat, so we call him Kitty. We do have a dog bed right next to the bed, but the cat will use it before one of our dogs would be caught dead sleeping on the dog bed.

My yorkie used to, but she has company with her sisters, and american eskimo, and rottie mix. Now she only is on the bed when it thunders she is deathly afraid of the storms. But the 4 cats have taken her place.
