Do You Wear Perfume?

I also dislike those nurses in the doctor's office who have a lot of perfume on, knowing they are going to be close to patients who are sensative to the smells. :

I once had a DR come into the examining room and say "they didn't put on your chart that you were having upper respiratory problems." and I had to reply "I came in for my ankle, the breathing issues just started when the nurse came in."

I wear perfume every day. I don't find it rude at all unless I douse myself, which I don't do.

I enjoy buying scents on my travels so that certain ones bring back fond memories.

I think my issue is that most people who wear the same fragrance day in and day out, lose their ability to smell the perfume and then douse themselves in it. And I think many who believe they are only using a small amount are underestimating because they can't smell it as well themselves.

Certain perfumes do give me allergy symptoms--I had to change my regular grocery shopping route through the store to avoid a lady who had bathed in her perfume last weekend. DH was laughing because I was sneezing when she'd be one aisle over so we were able to track her fairly accurately.

I don't wear perfume at all anymore since there are so many folks with allergies to them.

I love perfumes. I wear them sparingly. I dont care for walking by a person and smelling them for miles. A few favorites are:

D&G Light Blue
BLV - Bulgari
Channel - Chance
Lovely - SJP
Euphoria - CK
Ed Hardy - Christian Audigier
Very Hollywood - Micheal Kors

Perfumes inspire my mood. :)

The only one I wear! I am very sensitive to smells too and Hate heavy perfume and "old lady" perfume smells!

I do use perfume, but I only put it in my hair not on my skin...and I don`t use too much of it of course.

Angelhalo, I guess that I had a similar reaction that Mousebymarriage did when I saw "Funeral Home" listed among your favorite perfumes because I wondered whether you said that for fun. Is there really such a perfume? Of course, I have been in funeral parlors that smelled just lovely. It is nursing homes that often smelled really terrible to me and left me feeling as though I were smelling death.

I remember having some lotion called "Sunflower" which I used on my hands years ago and got compliments and never complaints about. I was walking through Macy's about a week ago and was handed a sample of a perfume called "Daisy," which I like enough that I am now using it as a bookmark. Each time I open my book to the marked page I am pleased. I would love to wear one of these happy scents in a world with so much unhappiness. I just don't want to bother people with my perfume because that would defeat the whole purpose.

It's real. It's by Demeter. They make all sorts of unusual scents. I have their "Salt Air", "Snow", "Honeysuckle" and "Leather" and there are tons more I've been meaning to get. The Demeter site decribes Funeral Home as "a blend of classic white flowers: lilies, carnations, gladiolus, chrysanthemums with stems and leaves, with a hint of mahogany and oriental carpet."

In response to the OP, I wear scents fairly often. I don't think it's rude unless you wear too much. I tend to switch fragrances often so I don't stop smelling them like some people do, but even if I did stop smelling it I wouldn't increase the amount I used. I don't think someone should be able to smell your perfume unless they are in your personal space. If you leave a cloud behind you as you walk or people who aren't next to you can smell it, you're wearing too much and I do find that rude.

I typically squirt on some Vera Wang Princess. It's pretty much the only perfume that doesn't make me feel sick.

I don't put a lot on because I know from personal experience how it can affect people.

I don't wear perfume. Strong smells (especially perfume) trigger migraines for me. I hate walking through the cosmetic section of department stores because of this. It doesn't bother me that others wear perfume. I just try to avoid any type of strong smells (scented candles et.) when possible.

Sometimes. On a night out yes, but never on a plane or to the theatre (some people are just jerks and I'd hate to thump someone with my dress bag for making rude comments and some people are truley allergic and in close quarters perfume can set them off), to work occasionally, try to remember to pack it on vacation, don't even have any at the lake house.

Most of my perfumes are NOT floral based as I have allergies myself, I try to stick to spice and low allergy scents.

I mostly were a perfume by BOND #9 perfume house. But I do like Lauren, and Obsession and a few other popular 80's name brands. I also like the vanilla/cranberry/cucumber scents that a lot of body sprays come in.

I am allergic...or technically...super sensitive so much so that I exhibit physical reactions such as sneezing, itching, and uncomfortable breathing....to synthetic floral scents. It is worse with perfumes as they are quite concentrated. But I have similar issues to candles, air fresheners, detergents, etc with synthetic floral scents.

BUT....
In general. I do not consider it rude for people to wear perfume. Smelling like you bathed in it...is rude. Noone should be able to ID which Chanel you are wearing from 50 feet away.

Essential oils IMHO are different. They come from actual plants and pretty much, unless the person has an allergy to the plant, they shouldn't be allergic to the smell of the essential oil. There are guidelines to consider as certain oils have limitations. I am not an aromatherapist, so I don't know what they are.

But as an example...I am allergic to azaleas, magnolias and the like. No idea if they have an essential oil...but if they did, I would be allergic.

I am not allergic to lavender. I can use product that uses it's essential
oils which is nice since it relaxes you.

I can't have fake lavender...so all those candles and crap that are fake...sneezy and itchy. Same deal with perfumes.

For perfumes, I have to use the ones that are more musk-y or spice smelling. Those synthetic scents don't give me any trouble.

Rule of thumb...you should only notice it on you when you apply it. Just because you can't smell it anymore, doesn't mean it is still there.

I am in search of a feminine perfume with a masculine scent that smells lovely without a hint of flower. If anyone has a suggestion--I
open.

Someone I met was wearing a new Women's Ralph Lauren scent. I was inacy's earlier this week, but no sample was out so that I could smell it in concentrated form. And no sales associate around. It smelled nice on the person wearing it...nice enough for me to check it out. But from 5 feet away. I did not react to it..so it passed my first test.

I have a suggestion- it's actually a man's perfume but it's smells nice on a woman, too. Spicy and not flowery (I hate flowery) - Dolce and Gabanna Blue Jeans.

I don't wear perfume because I like the smell of my soap - a nice peppermint that energizes me. Perfume would drown it out. I don't mind when others wear it though.
