HI

I am over 65 and wondering what to wear for my next trip. I usually wear capri length pants, but don't know if they are the best for the heat. So wondering if dresses past the knee are better. Wonder if they work getting in and out of rides like Splash, and Space. And how about the wind?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Susan

I haven't done so myself but DD is asking to wear some cool cotton sundresses on our next trip. I'm thinking I will let her try it but we will stick to dresses that have just a little fullness to the skirt so she can move easily in them. And she will wear some bike shorts or "booty" shorts underneath for a little extra coverage.

I will also be wearing dresses with shorts underneath! I only anticipate the carousel being an issue, it will be fine with shorts on, but might look a little funny to others! I'm not worried about wind-the shorts will do their job.

I wore skirts some with shorts attached or just plain skirts with no shorts everyday last May. It was perfect. I felt much cooler and had no problems getting on or off rides.

Just wondering....how is wearing shorts with a dress over it cooler than wearing just shorts?

I probably wouldn't be caught dead wearing biker shorts by themselves and I now have thighs that rub together so a skirt by itself is just asking for horrible chafing. Flowy skirts with tiny biker shorts is a good compromise!

Indeed! Why not just wear shorts, if you're going to wear them any way?

I like skirts and dresses for comfort and ease of movement.

I don't understand biker shorts. Why not just wear regular shorts?

I am a golfer and find that the breathable light loose-fitting fabrics that work well for summer golf work great for Disney visits. I think skorts for me might be a better choice than a dress as I don't want to wear shorts underneath and without them I would be afraid of the wind or riding roller coasters and having the dress billow up.

Why do people need shorts under the skirts? I usually just wear shorts in the park, but last year I tried wearing a few light sundresses. I found I was cooler in the dresses. I just wore normal panties under...no shorts. Are people wearing shorts in case the wind blows the dresss? I'm confused...I dont usually find there's a major gusting wind to worry about.

I wear sundresses frequently, and I don't need bike shorts under them. They're about three inches above my knee, and I haven't felt at all 'exposed'. :) Not even on Test Track!

That said, the last time I commented on a thread like this, another poster asked me what my size is, and when I said 5'7, 135lbs, she said, "of course you don't need anything under your skirts!" So, I'm guessing body shape might be a factor in whether or not you feel you need the extra security bike shorts provide. Also, thigh chafing might be an issue for some ladies.

I like wearing sundresses in the parks. They're great in the heat, and they make me feel like a princess. ;)

I wear a dress or skirt every day of my life, including at WDW. The only ride that I couldn't navigate elegantly was Space Mountain. That's a good day to go with bike shorts underneath, or a skort.

My guesses - thigh chafing. And, also, the type of dress they wear might be more prone to flipping up. Mine are fitted around the waist and torso and stay down, but I've seen larger ladies in more loosely designed, flowing garments, that might be harder to keep down over their butts when they're climbing in and out of rides.
