Do you want to/need to see Bin Laden's body?

I understand why they buried him at sea and quite frankly, who cares if their "tradition" says to bury within 24 hours-we are talking about a terrorist that has killed thousands and thousands of people-I think he gave up his right to having a burial of his choice :lmao:. I still think that they should have offered more proof than a news conference--during election campaigning time :rolleyes1.

Oh please, what purpose would it serve to lie about this? The man would be all over the media if it weren't true. And to your election comment, your politicians and politicians from any country are in perpetual campaign mode.

They said that members of Congress and families of the 9/11 victims were notified of impending announcement by President Obama's staff. I'm sure that took time.

I would also assume, thought this wasn't said anywhere, that all of our military and intelligence personnel needed to get to safety.

Don't you know that only IRRATIONAL assumptions are allowed on this thread?

To answer the original question, yes I would like to see the body. I understand the pictures that are circulating are not the "official" ones and many have been retracted. I think the quick disposal of the body, without releasing the death photos first or having third party confirmation, was a huge mistake. I was reading the BBC coverage and already there are plenty of "deathers". People really don't believe it and now that the body is gone, the conspiracy theories will run rampant.

I agree...this man was supposidly responsible for 9/11...and we are gonna bury him honorably? REALLY?? That just makes no sense..

Doing it this way make things easier politically for the US with Muslim countries.

Ahem...OSAMA (I've heard more than one talking head make this error as well, so you're in good company ;) )
Every time I see someone write or hear them say Obama instead of Osama, I'm grateful I'm not the only one. I was mortified last night when I posted the news of OBAMA's death on FB and someone pointed it out. I had to post a "good news" announcement that OBAMA is alive and well.

I do believe he is dead.. but yes would like to see the pictures.

Actually it was filmed...by our ppl..And the whole thing was witnessed as it was happening...The JSOC group that went in was filming...

The satellite technology actually exists to follow the special forces step by step during their operations. So if anyone wants an idea of what the scene in all likelihood was yesterday in the White House situation room sometime around 3:20pm EDT yesterday, here it is:

I'd like to believe that we are a few steps above this man mentally and morally. We don't have to sink to his level by hanging him from a flag pole or dragging his body through the streets. While he definitely deserves that treatment, I'd like to believe that our burying him honorably is what separates us from him. JMO, of course.

And mine. ::yes::

Looks like the President is having another "long form birth certificate" moment:

Note the above report states Osama had a big, nasty head wound above his left eye, with "brains and blood visible."

At least we know the last thing Bin Laden saw...was a U.S. soldier and the muzzle flash of his weapon.

No other wounds?

Chances are, if the brains and blood are exiting the wound about the left eye, that would support a rear entry.

Ive yet to see any post on more then one wound other then the one bullet wound.

Still sounds like execution on the premises to me. It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the World Media.

Per that linked article..."He has a massive head wound above his left eye where he took bullet, with brains and blood visible." And if he did get shot in the back of the head, who knows why? Turning to flee maybe? Of course there are people who will view it as an execution style murder no matter what (I couldn't care less if he was executed, to be honest)...they're on this thread, so why wouldn't there be more out there? There could be a video put out showing the whole thing, and there'd be people saying it was doctored.

It's mine as well.

I still don't know if I want to see his body, but here is the image of what he saw in his last breathing moment....

I totally agree with this. I take no pleasure in the death of any human. He was evil and his death was necessary for the good of all, but I will not celebrate his death, nor do I want to see his body strung up somewhere. I celebrate the idea of freedom and celebrate those who have given their lives or have taken great risk to give me freedom. I never celebrate death. How we treat others is what defines us as a people.

I agree with you 100%.

I do have to say that the picture of the soldier with the gun pointed made me feel proud of our troops. I heard he was given a chance to be taken in alive and resisted, so it was his choice to die.
