I think it might be possible they renovate one of the sections of ASM. Maybe. They tend to keep Star Wars separate of other IP. But I could see them taking out Mighty Ducks for Droids.

This is just what I was thinking. Revamp the dated ASM. I don’t necessarily seeing this happening... but does anyone care about half of those movie themes? This would be the “cheap” way to give more Star Wars options. I doubt I’d care much for staying there, but maybe some people would...

I think they could easily dedicate or expand ASM with a Star Wars section. They could even do a Mos Eisley QS restaurant. At $1000 a night I think they will have just crossed a line that Disney shouldn't cross, IMO.

How did they cross a line? Are they making people stay there?

Again, it's not just a normal hotel stay. If people are willing to pay $1000 a night to experience it, then good for them. And good for Disney.
Disney didn't take anything away from anyone for this new experience/hotel.

What line was crossed?

I guess the idea that some people have that Walt Disney World should be some egalitarian thing that everyone, regardless of socioeconomic standing, should be granted equal access to.

Yes, they are! Disney is currently refurbishing all the value hotels, so it's not like they are letting the low end things slide and only concentrate on the deluxe. In fact, the Pop Century is getting the gondola! That's a huge investment!
But we haven't seen yet what the new rates will be once the gondolas open. It might not be a "value" resort any longer.

Yes, but won't happen sadly since they are doing the other one that will cost an arm & leg to stay there. But an All-Stars/POP type resort as Star Wars would be perfect to me!

When talking about the cost - does everyone realize it's an experience resort? From when you check in, you are given a wardrobe to wear for the duration of stay, you are a character in the Star Wars universe. You have interactive experiences that regular Disney guests won't have, an entire story built around you.

I think Disney is crazy expensive, but honestly $1000 seems worth it for fans who would love this kind of thing. I'm sure the hotel won't be as large as others. I'm betting people will book for a 2 or 3 nights and then go home - the experience being the sole reason to book the trip, not a Disney trip. And then there are people who will begin/end a regular Disney trip there with a couple nights. I bet it will be quite popular.

I agree. I honestly think I will be more that $1000/night. There are alot of Star Wars crazy people out there. My husband is a big Star Ward fan and he and his buddies will star here. And he is cheap!

So i would love one but it wont happen, Disney is not going to make a strait up lesser version of one of its concepts. If they did anything i could see a Lucas-film resorts done up like the all star movie where there would be Star Wars themeing but also Indy, Labyrinth, Willow, American Graffiti and so on.
Don’t they arguably already do that with some of their hotels now? I’ve seen people call CBR sort of a Poly-lite and the same thing for POR being a simplified Grand Floridian.

Plus, again, with Star Wars you could totally justify an art of animation type experience because they have a set of animated series. So, maybe the whole family isn’t Star Wars obsessed enough to justify an all Star Wars all the time vacation for $1000/night but it could justify a hotel with some cartoony Jawa huts and an x-wing sitting outside for $350 a night and you otherwise go about your normal Disney vacation. Art of Animation shows it can be done well without charging $1000 a night. The theming there is great.

Plus, (aimed more at the thread than you) yes not everyone loves Star Wars but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a ton of people who do. I don’t care anything about meeting the princesses, but that doesn’t make me think they should cease and desist those experiences for the people who adore it.

I agree that Disney won't do it...they are saving that brand for the higher $$$'s experiences.

Also, given the existing confusion about Disney World from people who don't go there often (even with all the information available).. i'm sure there would be a percentage of people who would confuse the value hotel with the all inclusive one and get upset when they get there. Especially kids who would see advertisements for the all inclusive and think that's what they are getting when parents tell them they are staying at the Star Wars hotel.

All-Star Movies is undergoing a refurbishment right now, but it seems unlikely to me that they’ll do any re-theming. Music and Sports are next.

Looking at a map, it does look like there is room for one (maybe two) more All-Stars Resorts. It also seems (to me anyway) that they could use another Value since they’re near or at capacity most of the time. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an All-Star Adventure or something with a Star Wars section, just not a whole All-Star Resort.

if Disney is building a Star Wars themed resort that will be costly and immersive, they will not undercut it and do a value one.

I'm not saying that Disney will build a value Star Wars hotel, I just wish they would. And I don't believe it will undercut the expensive version because the two are so different, it's like fastfood undercutting fine dining. Totally two different market.

That's how I feel too. There is a market for not just the super expensive clients but also the average Star Wars fan. Why not tap into that market also, now that Disney owns Star Wars anyway? Not saying Disney will ever do it, but it might be a good money making idea.

Nobody is getting confused. There is Beach Club, Yacht Club, and Caribbean Beach. There is Coronado Springs and Saratoga Springs. People can tell the difference just fine. If they can't, if they are confusing the $1000 hotel with the $100 one, they are underestimating the ability of Disney to charge money.

I think there are plenty of people who don't know the difference between all those resorts... the majority of people who go to Disney aren't on these boards and learning all the ins and outs of what's available there.

There are people who think you have to pay for Fast Pass (or better, that they even exist !), there are people who don't realize Disney World is 4 different parks (and 2 water parks), there are people who don't realize you can download MDE on their phone for FP's and general information... There are PLENTY of people who are VERY confused about Disney World. I guarantee if there were 2 different Star Wars hotels there would be people out there who wouldn't know there was a difference.. especially as I said kids, they would see commercials/ads for the expensive hotel and think that's where they were going when their parents booked the 'cheap' one and would be let down when they got there.
