Disney's not bothering with the low end right now. It's either DVC, convention, or this spec venture for the immersion hotel.

I think it might be possible they renovate one of the sections of ASM. Maybe. They tend to keep Star Wars separate of other IP. But I could see them taking out Mighty Ducks for Droids.
I don't mean to predict that Disney is going to build a value SW hotel. I only want to know if people WANT it. So far, more than half the votes says no, people don't want it! I find that somewhat surprising and in a way, this may not bode well for the new SW Land opening.

I would hope not. I am there for Disney not Star Wars. I think we are losing sight of "it was all started with a mouse" mentality. I think if they wanted a Star Wars park/resort, I would have preferred they make that a park of it's own. Seeing storm troopers walking down the street and stuff, kinda takes it away from me.

These are my thoughts and how I feel, I know others feel differently.
I agree. It did feel weird in HS seeing stormtroopers or Darth Vader walking down the street, like they shouldn't be there. HS has always been big on Star Wars and they've always always been the least visited park of the four, even before their big refurbishment started that reduced the park size into half. So, I don't know. Will Galaxy's Edge really be the big draw that everybody says it is? Time will tell.

Why would they though?

This is not just a $1000 a night hotel that you sleep in, it's a full on immersive experience. It's an attraction in itself.

They do not have a value version of any of their deluxe hotels either.

For those who can't afford it (including myself), they are building something else for us to get our Star Wars fix - Galaxy's Edge.
My question isn't whether Disney would build a value SW hotel, but whether everybody wants such a thing if they did? So far, apparently no. Most people don't want it in my poll. So Disney is for sure not going to do it when the majority of people don't even want it.

I don't want a value hotel but I wouldn't mind a less then $1,000 a night hotel... yeeesh. I mean $400, I could justify. $1,000? I'm just going to pack a bag for Paris instead.

If the hotel experience is ANYTHING like the void at Disney Springs (which we just did this week) I am ALL in. I was blown away.

I'm thrilled the hotel will allegedly be closed to all but paying guests of that resort.
I didn't know what you are talking about until I googled and found out that the void is a virtual reality Star Wars thing! How exciting! Thanks for mentioning it! I will definitely take my son there! (I'd be interested too, but I have a baby so I can't.)

I can see the appeal to a closed resort. You won't need to make ADRs to eat at your own hotel!

No, I’m not a fan, but I’m replying to say that it’s a futile thing to wish for if they have enough guests willing to pay big bucks for the immersive experience.

Now, if they run into problems not filling the rooms, you might get a deep enough discount that you’re able to stay there. That is a more likely scenario because they are not going to build two Star Wars resorts. It’s been close to 50 years in operation, and they haven’t built a value version of the Polynesian yet.

There is a big difference between Star Wars and the Poly (or the Grand or whatever.) My point isn't to create a cheaper version of any deluxe. I'm talking about a cheaper hotel version of Star Wars, which has a huge following world wide. Most people in the developed countries know what Star Wars is. Most have never heard of the Poly or the Grand.

I don't know if they will run into problems with filling the rooms. I know that a lot of people will want to stay at a Star Wars hotel, but I don't know how many can afford the $1000 per night. It will be very interesting to see. It might be empty enough for them to lower the price to $800, or it might be so booked that I will never be able to get a room there even with $1000 in my hand, begging to pay. (That's what my son says.) They might raise the price to $2000. I think I'll say no to $2000. I don't want to see Star Wars that bad.

Yeah, I think it would make much better sense to make the new SW hotel in the $400 range. But who knows? Maybe after the first few years the hotel's newness wears off and they won't find enough people to pay $1000, and they will cut it down to $400! One can always hope and pray!:worship:

Paris? Come on now $1000 a night is more like Macau or Beijing. Anyway a value Star Wars resort may only be Jakku themed.

I don't think this poll is any indication of the popularity of the new land opening.
People just don't think they need to build a second Star Wars hotel.

I was just in Beijing lol you can get a swanky hotel for $200 -$300 usd easy. I did the Beijing Shangri-La for $240 usd a night which is only $20 more than I’m paying for my upcoming CBR stay in November/December. But for $1000 usd night? That’s the price of the ritz in Paris, though it may be closer to $1100 now since I haven’t looked in a couple years.

I mean, I love Star Wars, but I will not be among those signing up for the hotel if it’s $1000 a night. I’d rather use that money for another vacation, but that’s just me. We all have different priorities, which is a good thing. Honestly, I’m sure they’ll fill it up at whatever they decide to price it at- they employ some smart people and obviously they’ll have done the research to figure out what people will pay. I’m sure they won’t be crying in their ice cream because I won’t be staying there lol

Exactly, I am not a big Star Wars fan, but my husband is. If the new SW hotel looks cool, I would put him and his dad up in it for a couple nights as gifts to them. He wouldn't even be interested in staying at a SW value hotel, he doesn't like value hotels and SW won't help that at all, we would walk around and take pictures though. Now, as much as I am not excited about SW in general, or the crowds SWL is going to bring, I do like new rides, especially innovative ones, so I am excited for SWL for that, plus I love really well themed lands.

I’m sure that Disney did a ton of marketing research for the SW resort that they are building, but I am skeptical about their ability to charge those prices and keep the place reasonably occupied.

For the high cost, I can’t even see it being something that many people would do more than once. But like I said, they’ve done research that tells them it will be profitable, so what does a non-SW fan like myself know?

Time will tell. :)

I'd like to stay in a NICE resort, not a Star Wars one. That being said, I'm 51, my kids are both adults now, so we don't vacation together as a family any longer much at all. I loved the original Star Wars movies, but to say I'd stay at a resort on purpose that is themed after it is just absurd. Not happening. I'm not the convention type (you know what I'm talking about), after escorting my kids years ago to Otakon a few times (fun but we live 30 minutes away), I've paid my dues!

I find Disney deluxe resorts on par with many lower quality beach resorts, but they are at Disney, so the price dictates that. The convenience to the theme parks is what we're paying for. Yes, back in the day the Grand Floridian provided stellar service, but no longer is it even close to the same.

I find value resorts cute, cheap, and convenient. They are fine, but as others have said, if Disney is building a Star Wars themed resort that will be costly and immersive, they will not undercut it and do a value one.

When talking about the cost - does everyone realize it's an experience resort? From when you check in, you are given a wardrobe to wear for the duration of stay, you are a character in the Star Wars universe. You have interactive experiences that regular Disney guests won't have, an entire story built around you.

I think Disney is crazy expensive, but honestly $1000 seems worth it for fans who would love this kind of thing. I'm sure the hotel won't be as large as others. I'm betting people will book for a 2 or 3 nights and then go home - the experience being the sole reason to book the trip, not a Disney trip. And then there are people who will begin/end a regular Disney trip there with a couple nights. I bet it will be quite popular.

I think they could easily dedicate or expand ASM with a Star Wars section. They could even do a Mos Eisley QS restaurant. At $1000 a night I think they will have just crossed a line that Disney shouldn't cross, IMO.
