Do you visit your inlaws without your spouse?

I have been going to my inlaws for Thanksgiving with just my son for the last few years. My wife is an RN in an ICU and always works Thanksgiving so that she can get Christmas off. It's about 2.5 hours of driving each way, but it's cool. I get along great with my inlaws. It's my own family that I don't see anymore...

I'm packing today to go see my in-laws for a long weekend. My sister in law is having her first baby and first baby shower this weekend. I wanted to make sure she felt we were also celebrating with her. My husband is out of country(naturally) so I'm flying from the 90 degrees of the desert to the cold to me Chicago.
I'm fortunate I have a great relationship with my SIL and though my MIL is a loon she is tolerable. It was always important to me to cultivate this relationship with my inlaws because my husband loves them. He has always been kind and helpful to my side of the family and I want to extend the same to his.

So do you visit with your in-laws without your spouse?

Not just no, but heck no. He doesn't visit my family either. The only time he ever saw them without me was when my sisters were doing daycare for my girls, and he'd go pick them up by himself.

Absolutely. My MIL is one of my good friends. She has her issues (doesn't everyone), but she is overall a wonderful person and easy to talk to. Love her to bits.

When my MIL was alive yes, I visited without dh. His dad lives in another state.

My mother also visited dh's mom and they went out to lunch together every so often.

Just about never. We really only get together for parties, holidays and that is when we would all go together. Many years ago I did some stuff with one SIL but she is alot older than me and it's more obvious now that we have nothing in common at all. I like them but not enough to do stuff on my own without DH.
