Do you vacation the same time each year?

I know that one of the reasons we all bought into DVC was the flexibility. You can go whenever you want and you aren't locked into any one specified time period.

I like having the option, however I know we'll be using DVC mostly in the month of January and occasionally in the month of September, when I plan family reunions. (The family won't go in January, they want to swim!)

So I began wondering what other DVCers do. Do you usually go during the same month(s) each year, or is it all different times for you?

We usually plan one vacation in late May/early June. Then a second will vary and be sometime between late September and early February.

Right now I don't have a lot of flexiblity with my vacation time since I teach. For the next few years I will be going over Easter break, summer and for a long weekend in December.

Hopefully, I will be able to squeeze a Feb. long weekend in.

Once I retire, I plan a lot more "off season" trips!

Pre DVC, we used to go in December & January. Now we tend to go in February(school vacation) and late August.

It's easier for me to say when we "don't go."

We rarely if ever go in June, July, or August. Primarily due to the seasonal blackout period on our passes. We don't normally make it in February, either - due to the crowds around Presidents' Day. This year, however, the SS Member Cruise changed that!

I guess we primarily hit September - January, but always make it over for Memorial Day. Our visits in March & April have been minimal.

I work for a Bank - so, if there's a federal holiday - I'm normally there!! :)

We try to plan around when we have an AP. We currently have one, and will be making our third trip on it in May/June. After that, we won't be back to the parks until August, 2004. Instead, we will be doing the cruise (payed for with rented out points), and a HH stay next June. We have gone at different times of the year, and prefer the off-season for at least one of our WDW trips. Generally, since the kids are getting school age, we'll plan on two summer trips (HH then WDW) and one during the school year (WDW).

We travel at different times during the year, but as a teacher, they are always planned during school breaks. We have been to WDW in February, April, July and August. We are heading down this year at Christmastime for our first December trip. Looking forward to those off-season trips in another 20 years or so!

We always like to take a break from the cold

, so we usually go during President's week to OKW. But next year DW and I are taking our 1st cruise(cash  )

ever the week after President's week. We like to go to VB every summer

for now.
We always fly down now(until we retire), so we tend to make the ressies at 11 months out, along with plane tx,car rental.
We also have other trips planned this summer........Vegas(June) San Antonio(July).
I am sure we will go a lot more often, and spur of the moment trips, in 4 or 5 years when we are retired. :D

Right now we're flexible but once our son starts kindergarten in 2004 we'll also have to go during school breaks. We went in April/May and December last year, and have a trip planned for December this year.

It will be interesting to see what we do now. I've been a teacher for years, so we've been rather "locked" into certain times. However, I just found out my contract won't be renewed so depending on my future, we may be able to go whenever DH can take vacation. I wonder if we'll still take trips at the same time out of habit, or go at different times.

We tend to go at Christmas every year. We enjoy the decorations and it is a time that we can spend with our 2 children (ages 21 and 16) as a family. This year I invited my brother and his family to go and also my sister. We look forward to spending Christmas away from home (Ohio) and getting away from pleasing the remaining family members (we usually have 4 different Christmases with the various family members...it tends to get a little hectic). Call us crazy....but we love WDW at Chritmastime!

We're both teachers.
We leave as early as possible on the day after graduation.
:)
49 days...

We go pretty much the same months, but not always the same week or length of time. We also change the number of people regularly, so the flexibility of room size is a must. We go in May, October and December.

We are still trying to settle into a groove since buying DVC. It is starting to look like one trip in Jan, Feb, or March, and another in Sept, or Oct. Perhaps we will throw in one more somewhere along the way.........

We usually go late April early May for the Flower/Garden Festival for a 5 day trip, then in July or August for 9-10 days, and back the Friday after Thanksgiving for another 5-6 nights. I do like to get my moneys worth out of our APs.

Oh,How we LOVE our DVC.:smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

We have only been members a little over 1 yr., and last yr we spread small trips out over the entire yr. (we went total of 5 times!!!! I LOVED IT!) The only time I didnt really enjoy it was when it was in the summer (I think like June, and the HUMIDITY was UNBEARABLE!) I am used to hot/humid summers, but there was no relief even after a thunderstorm (like I am used to here in PA) So far we have gone 2/14/03 for a few days (had funa nd weather was GREAT!!!! and getting ready and leave this week for 7 days over Easter Think I must be nuts as it will prob be crowded, but we have never gone over Easter before and kids have off some school, and well, I NEED DISNEY BADLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bounce:

Since buying into the DVC; our main goal was that we would go every July for our family summer vacation and every September for our special vacation. All I can say is that I am having major withdrawals about not going sooner. I am getting more and more obsessed about not being at Disney. Thank goodness, we have planned a quick qetaway this coming weekend. See ya there!

We go during the coldest days of the Milwaukee winter! The coldest day, on average, is January 10. In 2004 we will be going from January 4 through the 14th. The average high temp at OKW is about 72 F. The average high temperature in Milwaukee is about 12 F !:D :smooth:

We follow the same routine. One year 3 weeks in August (buy AP's) the following year 3 weeks in July (on the same Ap's). We've been following this schedule since DS started high school. He's a sophomore in college now.

We used to go in October and then found out how much we liked early December, so we now go May and December to spread it out. Usually 6 nights, first or second week of May and first or second week of Dec. We time our AP's to get 3 trips out of each one. For example - second week of May this year, second week of December and first week of May next year.
