Do you usually pick cheap or expensive options in restaurants?

it depends on what I want......usually lower priced, but if there is something I really like, I will pay the price

Depends. Last Friday we were in a restaurant and I hadn't had a chance to go to the ATM, so was trying to stay within the amount of cash I had to avoid using my credit card. It worked because the $10 entree not only hit the price point, but it sounded good.
The next night we ate out again and I had gotten cash, so money was no object, just what sounded good.

With allergies and my illness, I no longer look at price. I look at what I can eat. So, sometimes, I'm eating the cheapest thing on the menu...and sometimes I'm eating the most expensive.

That said, I don't choose incredibly expensive "starting point" restaurants, especially now (my spouse used to take me out to high end French as my birthday gift - that stopped when my 1st allergy kicked in b/c taking dairy away from the French pretty much removes the whole menu to where it's not worth going to get possibly the one main dish I could eat, with no dessert or amuse bouches, etc)...

I get what I want without regard to cost, but usually something that is harder to make at home vs something easy peasy. It's what makes me feel more pampered.

I usually have a pretty good idea of prices before we go in somewhere. If it's a casual meal out, I will try to choose something reasonable, and hope DH and DS do too. It's hard to spend less than $100 for the three of us on just basic stuff (3 entrees and 3 beverages). We treated friends to breakfast at Denny's two weeks ago and the bill for 4 people was $95 before tax & tip. I hope they ordered whatever they wanted. :goodvibes

I went to breakfast at Denny's with my parents a few weeks ago and I was SHOCKED at how expensive it was now. It had been years I had gone to Denny's, other than for my free slam on my birthday.

DH and I almost always share a meal, so we often get pricier things like a steak or a combo type thing. If we order our own, I usually lean toward the cheaper items like sandwiches or burgers.

I think everything is an expensive option!

Seriously though, I would say I pick the cheap options. Not particularly because they are cheap, but because that is just what I tend to order. That being said, I DO order water (unless the pop is part of a value meal) because I feel that drink prices are robbery.

I almost always order salad which is usually at the lower end of the price scale. I am just not in the habit of eating the "top tier" items.

It depends on what I want, and if we are sharing check. Sharing check will usually order like pack. If without other couples I will go with what I want aside from crazy priced dishes and try to avoid specials unless they sound really good or I know the place is sane with their special pricing.

If sharing a check why would you not order what you want?

It can up the cost for everyone considerably, sometimes other are on tighter budget. I also will drink less vodka if at all. Unless its my drunk friends who seem wealthier than my sober ones or possibly oblivious to what they are spending.

Varies. I really enjoy seafood and that tends to be higher priced, but also sometimes just want a sandwich or a salad which tend to be lower priced.
