Do you use the library?

I stopped in my library last week after not going in for nearly a year. There were hardly any books. It was all DVD's and computers everywhere.
Not the atmosphere I want for a library.
I'll stick with getting books on my kindle.

I get my Disney info at home from the internet and sometimes buy a book regarding Disney but it's more history of Disney type books.

I don't have my own blog.

I gave up on the majority of disney facebook groups because of drama. I still check the Passholder page and the Disney blog page but that's about it. I do have a couple of websites I still look at regularly - the DIS is one of them.

What a shame--a library without books.

I go a couple of times a month and buy books and buy for my kindle. I'm a readaholic.

First off I LOVE the library! It has been a favorite place of mine since I was a little girl. :goodvibes Now if I take my oldest son to the "big" library the next town over he thinks it is the best surprise ever! :cool1: Our library program has tons of stuff. There are movie nights, kid programs, classes, and other musical and theater events. We try and go at least once a week. The boys love story time.
I do most of my Disney research online, but will grab a book or two if it is on the shelves.

As for school librarians that makes me so sad. The private school I attended in elementary school had the most wonderful librarian. I always loved reading, but she welcomed me as often as I wanted to go. She taught me about the library system and how to work in the library. I was very sad when I found out she passed away last year. She left a wonderful legacy that I have passed on to my children. Libraries are to be respected but will open up an amazing world to you.

We use the library all time time. With the kids, we are there at least once a week. We have a great online system so I put my books on hold and then pick it up. Besides with the kids, I can't remember the last time I looked on the shelves. We are also able to download ebooks to borrow so I have been doing that a lot as well recently.

I don't use it for research since most of that I do online now.

I do use the library, but only as an office of sorts. We have pets that are super affectionate, which is great most of the time, but makes working from home a lot harder. I find I'm more productive if I can get away from home.

As far as using the library for borrowing books, etc. no. I haven't checked out a book in since 2008. I'm 90% digital on books anyway.

I'm a big reader. I didn't have a Kindle until Christmas of 2011 because I thought that I needed/wanted to hold an actual book. Prior to receiving the Kindle, I was in the library every 6 weeks to check out a new stack of books. My DS ignored my claims that I wouldn't enjoy ebooks and gifted me the Kindle and I've never been back to the library. I still use the library as one of my ebook sources but love that I don't have to actually go there.

So I'm at my systems staff development day. I mentioned we were a high circulating library ( 3 mil per year system over 1.25 just at my branch) I just got out of the overdrive session. We do over 750,000 ebook circulations per year (system wide). Which makes us overdrives largest circulating library in the southwest. San Antonio was next with 400,000.

Crazy numbers.

Even crazier when you take into account that very few regular leisure readers of eBooks even know that you can borrow them from libraries. (Or that the Kindle problem that existed in the first generation was solved some time ago.)

I use Overdrive accounts from 3 different systems for my personal reading. I average about 24 circs/month, both ePub and audio. Then there are my DH and my kids ...
