Do you use "The Google?"

Apparently President Bush uses "the google". He can't remember the name of the program but he uses the map to look at the ranch in Crawford Texas when he needs a break. I watched this live and it struck me as really funny!

In a CNBC interview Oct 24th, 2006, Maria Bartiromo asked President Bush: “Have you ever Googled anybody? Do you use Google?” Here's his answer to the hardball question that's on everybody's mind.

“Occasionally. One of the things I’ve used on the Google is to pull up maps. It’s very interesting to see that. I forgot the name of the program, but you get the satellite and you can — like, I kind of like to look at the ranch on Google, reminds me of where I want to be sometimes. Yeah, I do it some. I tend not to email or — not only tend not to email, I don’t email, because of the different record requests that can happen to a president. I don’t want to receive emails because, you know, there’s no telling what somebody’s email may — it would show up as, you know, a part of some kind of a story, and I wouldn’t be able to say, `Well, I didn’t read the email. 'But I sent it to your address, how can you say you didn’t?' So, in other words, I’m very cautious about emailing.”

You have to wonder what kind of communication goes on inside the White House that he fears might become "part of some story." Abramoff ring a bell? Too bad the Patriot Act doesn't afford the same privacy to US citizens. I think it's funny how he refers to it as "the Google." Remember the classic "Internets" line in the second 2004 Presidential debate? This guy is almost as out of touch with technology as Senator Ted "Tubes" Stevens. Also, do you really need Google Maps when you have the National Reconnaissance Office's spy satellites that can identify objects on the ground as small as 24 inches in real time?

That bugs me too but from "the internets" in 2004 to "the google" in 2006 the man never ceases to amaze me at his stupidity!

I have no idea if any Presidents surf the net but if he's going to make a reference to it he should at least know about it on some level! Calling it the internets in 2004 and then the google in 2006.

You however are correct he is NO brain surgeon and I'm sure people who need them are thanking God for that everyday!!

Personally, I could care less what Bush calls Google. I do care that Bush is trying to justify the war in Iraq by saying they declared war and attacked us first. I care that he just told the American people that our plan hasn't been "stay the course" when that's been his central message on Iraq. Torture, massive deficits, flip-flopping on support for civil unions... those sorts of things bother me. "The Google"? Not so much.

I don't really "care" what he called Google per se it's just another way he proves that he is an idiot on a lot of issues! The things you say bother me too...this was mostly just a "fluff" post about something not as serious as the Iraq war or the Patriot Act and that I found it a tad bit funny that's all.
