I was just curious how many of us save our points by staying elsewhere on weekend (fri/sat) nights? DH & I decided for the first time to go ahead and stay at OKW on a fri&sat, just because we are already changing rooms once this trip. Usually we stay on cash at a non DVC resort for fridays or saturdays. I like the opportunity it affords us to check out other resorts! What about you all?

Our stay is nearly always "Sat -> Sat" (7 nights in one room). I wouldn't even think about switching rooms/resorts during the trip.

I've never used two weekend nights, but often use one.....Normally Saturday to Thursday....

We empty nesters are still working and we have spent a fair number of points on the weekend. It's just when we have the time to go, but we are more likely to stay Sunday night. We have also stayed off site, or at Pop for Friday night.

My DMom is 86 and traveling is starting to take it's toll, she comes via Philly. I had originally invited her and my DSis for a Sat/Sunday stay for Mother's Day, but in the end I felt, "what the heck" 3 nights makes the trip a bit more worth it for her. It was one of the most pleasant trips we've ever taken.

We do do the Sunday to Friday morning stays as well, it's just for now, we do what we can.

I have reserved a Friday and/or Saturday night with the member rate or an AP rate at OKW to extend a stay without moving. I figured a 1 bedroom was 48 points and the cash rate was around $325 so it was a good deal (under $7 a point).

Nope- I dont use my points for weekends. I prefer to take multiple trips a year and stay Sun-Friday. With great Ding fares and an AP it works out wonderful for me- :)

We use our points for weekend nights, we usually stay 10 nights at a time, with one full weekend in the middle of our stay 2x per year.

A lot of times we book other resorts with the AP discount, sometimes we will use the points. Our christmas trip at BWV we will stay on points.

Friends & I use our point for weekends all the time. We do several long weekends and then in Oct. go for ten-eleven days covering two weekends.

Don't like to move.

We haven't had a trip (next week is #5) where we didn't stay the weekend. Our trips are at least 6-7 nights, usually Wed - Tues or Wed - Wed. We deliberately bought enough points so we could do a 1BR for just the two of us without even thinking of the cost.

Changing rooms is a nightmare. We usually switch from points to cash (with a member discount, if possible) on weekends and then switch back to points.

Just made reservations for our DD and DSIL for a fri./sat. night stay at OKW for middle of Aug. Only time they could get free. We are going to watch the 2 DGSs, 4yo and 2yo, for them while they are enjoying themselves.

For ourselves, nope.

I try to save my points and use as little as possible. Our May trip to WDW this year we used points for Sunday- thursday and cash night for Friday our last night. I just could not justify using 29 points for 1 night. :eeyore:pluto:

We usually fly in late Friday night, stay at either SOG or the Poly (if we can get a good rate), move to a 1bedroom on Sunday and then leave the following Sunday. We've paid for the weekends with points and cash. I don't like changing rooms, and we really don't feel as if our vacation has begun until we're in our DVC room.

Due to the fact we only have 170pts, and need a 2br (family of 5), we get 2 rooms @ Pop or stay offsite on the weekends.

Instead of staying elsewhere, we usually do a couple of 10-12 night trips a year and only stay one weekend. For example: We arrive on a Sunday, stay through that week and next weekend and then leave the middle of the next week. When we purchased, we looked at staying a week at a time, so looked at weekend points as just an inclusive part of that.

We always use points on weekends. Sometimes we hit two weekends on one trip. We hate to move.

And we still go at least twice a year.

We bought enough points to stay 7 full nights during Choice or Adventure season and actually are 5 short from dream season. We bought so we wouldn't have to change.
