We normally go for 2 weeks in the summer. We do not stay at OKW for the friday and saturday night. i don't it's a pain to move to another resort for the 2 nights. Besides we would not have enough points to stay for 2 weeks if we do stay for the weekend.

Please put into prosceptive that we drive so we have a car. Thus making moving around easy.:earsgirl:

So far I've only gone 4 times so there is no such thing as "usually". My game plan is to maximize my purchase...on the last trip there was good discount at AKL...a hotel I wanted to stay at. So I split my trip using points for just one weekend night.

I'm a little curious about all the people who say they couldn't be bothered moving. If you haven't given it a try you might want to do it experimentally just once...even those of you with small children. I know DVC'ers with 3 kids under the age 5 who haven't had any problem with moving. So far I've found that being willing to move makes it a lot easier to plan my trips than not. The trips do need to be at least 4 nights in length...that's because it takes I don't rest easy in the new bed until the second night.

I'm a little curious about all those people who pack up and move just to save points. Why don't you just buy more. A small add on could take care of the weekends and you wouldn't have to be bothered with the hassles of moving.

So why would you even suggest that others do this? It just seems so penny wise to me. Saving a couple points, but spending hours of you vacation moving...maybe even twice. Sorry, it just don't appeal to me.

BTW, I am happy to see that its a minority of people who take this 'avoid weekend points like the plague" attitude. At least there are enough people doing it to make for better weekend availability for us Floridians.

I agree with those who purchased to "save" money, and enjoy their entire week. Though I have thought about this and having read these posts, I find I will continue to to use my entire week.

If we were to stay for longer than the "norm" 7 nites, I do agree that we would add on to the end of the vaca to use weekday rates and not at the beginning, using the pricier Fri or Sat points.

Then, as I have suggested b4, that if you have to fly in late on a Sat for airfair reasons, then get a cheap room and begin your vaca early Sun morning.

"am I contradicting myself?????!!!"

we try to stay at the Disney resorts with codes on Fri-SAT so we can see what these resorts are like then move to our DVC home:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

We have only used points for weekend days twice. But both of our upcoming trips will have one weekend day. We find that in addtion to the higher point cost, weekends also are more crowded and hectic. We avoid Vegas on the weekends for the same reasons, rooms cost more and the crowds can at times be unbearable.

Our upcoming trip in October is Sunday check-in and Saturday check-out. The Friday will be the second weekend of the FWF and will more than likely be mobbed. So we will see how we deal with the crowds.

We also have a Saturday/Sunday stay booked for the 2004 Marathon weekend. This will be the 3rd time we done this event and each time we use points for the Saturday night before the race.

I agree with those who say that this poll really needs a third choice. Sometimes we avoid weekends, and sometimes we go for JUST the weekend. It just depends on our plans.

We have reservations in October, and we're spending 2 nights (Sat & Sun) at PBH so that we can enjoy FOTL at US/IOA. Then we are switching to AKL for 4 nights (Mon - Thur) to soak in the atmosphere & attend MNSSHP, and finally, we just added two nights at BWV (Fri & Sat) so that we can attend the F&W festival, and not worry about having to trek across WDW to AKL. ;)

Some people will complain that it's too much resort hopping for their tastes, and other people will call it a waste of points. It works for us.

I put we stay weekends, because we do, but we don't mind moving - like our last trip we stayed four nights at beach club villas then four nights at wilderness lodge villas. We like the change. I would consider staying a weekend for pay - like this last trip, we could have rented our wilderness lodge points for the weekend nights and been better off just booking a room at $109 a night at the wilderness lodge, but in the end we didn't because we already had the points and reservations and everything, and it seemed silly just for the weekend. But I might consider five nights at the beachclub and the weekend somewhere else if they keep having rates like that.
