or visit them for deals.

Flipping channels and there is like a dozen shows about pawn :confused3

I've never pawned anything, but I have bought musical instruments at a pawn shop a couple of times. You need to know what you are looking at and know if the rehab is going to be worth what it is going to (potentially) cost, but for us it was a great solution so that we neither had to buy a brand new instrument for a child in band (who may or may not stick with it, and may or may not have a mishap with the instrument), nor had to be responsible for a leased one.

I went to a pawn shop to buy an empty guitar case. I already had the guitar, and it needed a home.

:cutie:

My husband buys things at the pawn shop sometimes. He loves a bargain and he loves to haggle so it's just his kind of place. Got my DD an iPod for $30

I sold a few pieces of gold jewelry to a pawn shop recently. I got the best price on gold from them and that's why I used them. DH bought me a pair of diamond earrings from the local pawn shop. They came with the original certificate stating color/clarity/etc. We took them to our jeweler friend and he gave us the exact same details/info. as the certificate and told us that DH got a great deal on them!

Next Vegas trip I am going to Gold and Silver Pawn Shop (Pawn Stars!) I love that show.

Years ago I went onto one in Daytona - looked like a castle. First and last time I was ever in one. Didn't buy anything.

We go all the time...I have bought a lot of things there...Tv's, video games, computers, and even my Xbox 360...There are good bargains to be had...you just need to know the cost of things BEFORE you go in.

I own a store (not pawn) on our Main Street, and it's next to the only pawn shop in town. I've been in there a few times, as we're pretty friendly with the owners. They have great prices on video games, which I never knew, so I picked up a few of those here and there.

Since they are right next door, I see a constant parade of people taking things into there, or picking them up. The first time that someone started their chainsaw up right outside my window, I about jumped out of my skin. Usually it's a parade of rifles and flat-screens.

When I lived in the states I loved flipping items from pawn shops to ebay. I would absolutely crush it. I usually took home between 300-400 a month flipping items as a hobby. Power tools were usually good for unique ones, video games and systems are good too. I stayed away from jewelry, didn't know enough.

we go every now and then. Good deals on jewerly, video games. My cousin got a good deal on an iPod last summer.

No, but I was thinking about going to a few to see if I could find a telescope to take with us for the final shuttle launch.

As others have said, you can get great deals at pawn shops as long as you do your homework first. My DH has bought good tools for a low price.

Never set foot in a pawn shop.

Naperville Jewelry and Loan, the store in Pawn Queens on TLC, is not far from our house so we stopped in there a few weeks ago. We didn't see either of the girls there but Greg and Tom were there along with an older man (guessing he's the father of one of owners) and a younger guy.

We didn't buy anything but we laughed because they were talking very loudly about how someone sold a purse for less money than they paid for it. :scared1: Greg wasn't too happy!

prepare to be underwhelmed when you go into Gold and Silver in Vegas.

They were shooting when we were there last year and we stood outside in the sweltering heat for nearly an hour before going into what looks like any other pawn shop I have seen(all two of them).

I love the show though...
