Do you use MSN Live Messenger? if so ... read

I recently have had lots of problems with VMK and fixed it by simply uninstalling Windows Live Messenger. I had been using Windows live for about 2 months but after a "closing for enhancements" on May 24 my problems started. I did the usual shockwave and flash player uninstall/reinstall with no difference. I did a system restore on my computer and could not even sign into vmk. I undid the restore and then could sign in but mini games were impossible to play, trading was difficult even with only 2 or three items in the window. If I was in a room with more than 6 or 7 people and/or animated objects my computer slowed to the point that typing to talk was even a chore. Since Windows Live was the last thing I had added to my computer its where I started when the other fixes didn't help. Once I removed the Windows Live messenger program my computer went back to working the way it should. I dont know if a VMK enhancement was to blame or if maybe Windows Live changed something but there must have been a conflict created somewhere with vmk and msn messenger. If you are having these kinds of problems and are using Windows Live messenger you might try uninstalling and see if VMK improves for you. If it happened to me ... it could be a problem for others also.

There's also a problem with the latest yahoo messenger update. Once I had installed that, I could no longer log on vmk. I've done the restore back to Sunday and all is fine now. What is it with all the recent updates? I've been getting them far more often than in the past from windows and yahoo.
Also, in case anyone missed it, about a week or two ago there was an updated version of shockwave player. This update actually helped with the lag on vmk.

Hope it helps you too. I spent alot of frustrating hours trying to figure out what was wrong and alot of frustrating hours in vmk with it not working the way I knew it should. If it would have happened when I installed the MSN Live it would have been easy but I had used the messenger for almost 2 months before the change occured. I am just glad I found the problem and I hope this thread will help others who might have similar issues.

Thanks for sharing! I have MSN Live also, but I haven't really experienced any significant VMK problems; other than the usual lag. Perhaps that would go away if I uninstalled it, but then I'd lose my "chat". Being female, I think I pick CHAT over LAG!

I installed MSN to talk to one of my vmk friends bc Yahoo messes with her computer and she had to delete Yahoo. But I found I could add her to my list on Yahoo even though she is MSN ... we just don't have all the emoticons because of the two different messegers. My problems were far more than just some lag. It was difficult to do anything in vmk. Even the other Disney sites related to vmk were affected by it. I could not even play the game to get the pirate ship codes and the POTC game for Sparrow codes got extremely slow. I deleted the MSN Live and its all good again. Everything else on the computer worked the same as always which is why I believe it may have been one of the VMK enhancements that started the trouble and not MSN... but then I dont know too much about the brains of my computer so I could be wrong.
