I just started scrapping with a new gal, and she has some really neat ideas. She uses all CM albums and they are all 12x12. But, on one page, she has put 2 8 1/2 x 11 pages. It looks really neat. On the big pages she is putting pictures. On the smaller pages, she is putting notes. It's a going away party that her friends had for her, so she is putting the cards on the smaller pages. I would have never thought of it, but how cute.

I like to do that when I have road trips. I put an 8 1/2 x 11 in the middle of where we went. Usually, I do an overview and soem smaller city maps.

so the holes line up? Hmmmm never thought of that. Sounds interesting though, but I am so particular about things being symetrical it would probably make me crazy.

I have a friend who does the CM 12 x 12 with smaller 8.5 x 11 in between for certain events. Yes, those hinges line up. I use post bound and will slide the 8.5 x 11 page protectors in between 12 x 12 pages to hold things that I want to include but which may not scrap well. For instance football programs (I want the whole thing not cut out sections), some letters/eval sheets from DD's Scouting work that is printed on both sides. And yes those holes line up too!

I'm probably too picky to try something like this although I like the idea of using 8.5"x11" to hold "stuff" you don't want to cut up.

What a cool idea! I'm really picky about things being symmetrical too, but would definitely like to use some things "whole" - so this would work well for that!

Thanks!

This is the only scrapbooking board I visit and this is why: I love all the new ideas I learn on this board! :)

I will use the smaller pages for cards and programs, or if I forget something. They are good for that. Otherwise I love my big pages and will most of the time put brochures and such in the photo corners so that I can take them out if need be.

We used the smaller pages in our cruise album - to hold copies of the navigator that we saved - we always get extras because the ones they leave in the room end up written on, circled and folded up to put in pockets for reference during the day.

I just erecently bought a scrapworks album. they pages are 12x12, but there are some that have spots for just a page of 4x6 photos, ones that take a couple of 6x6 and then some 4x6, so you can put some plain photos and some minilayouts. I have not really played with it yet, but the rep at cha showed me hers and it was very cool.

I use the CM 12 X 12's mainly.. I have used the 8 1/2 pages when I have completed a double page layout of something and later find pictures or memorabilia that I want to include. It actually looks really cute..it turns a double page layout into something that looks more like a mini story book. I first did it because after I finished scrapping Easter my Mom brought over her pictures and there was so many good ones I couldn't resist working them in. Now if I know I need more than 2 pages to scrap an event I insert the 8 1/2 by 11 page and it flows better than adding a second double page layout.

Note: I am a CMC so I am biased to CMC product...

I rarely journal directly on my 12x12 pages unless I type up a journal box in advance of doing the page. I do use the 8 1/2 by 11 to tell my story ( especially trip reports from my disney trips ). I tend to either do bullet journaling with sticker letters or diecuts or type out an entire 8 1/2 by 11 page. I then insert it in between the 12x12 pages. Just another reason I stick to my strap hinge albums I guess. I also love cutting my 12x12 page in half and using that in my album as a half page ( journaling on one side and pictures on the other side ). I have even seen some people use photo tape and attach the 12x12 ( on the jeeping ) to the outside of a 12x12 page and create a fold out page.
