I am planning on using Disney Dollars and Traveler's checks at Disney World, as well as have some cash. Have you used both? And how did you break it down in percentages? Example: 50 percent disney dollars, 40 percent travel checks, 10 percent cash.
Thanks.

I am using TCs to pay for the stuff I normally charge to my room with the resort key, so about 70%.

I am using cash only at the smaller vendors, so about 20%.

We use Disney dollars for our daughters' spending money, about 10%.

We are going on a land/sea trip...I know that Disney Dollars are taken EVERYWHERE (for the most part...) But what is the best combination? If I put $$$ on my KTTW card...can I do that with TC's? I know I do that @ Guest Services on the ship but can I do something like that @ the hotel too? We are staying at the Polynesian...I know we'll need small bills for tips and such...So, the question is...

What is the best combination?

We use credit cards everywhere we possible can. That earns us the maximum reward points on our cards. I never saw any point in using cash except for the small vendors like ice cream carts that don't take credit cards. I would see even less point in Disney dollars or travelers checks. it seems like just more stuff to carry in my wallet and more inconvenience to deal with.

I use TC's, Disney $$, and CC. I always back up my room key with a CC because if I want or need something I can get it. I take DD's because many people know we frequent Disney and give them to us as gifts, and I use this for all of the kids spending money. TC's are in case I need to have more cash or run out of DD's. Once our town car never came to pick us up and we had to take a cab to get back to the airport--without the TC's we would not have been able to pay the cab driver! TC's are easier to convert/use when we get back home than DD's as well. Breakdown-CC nearly all food/souvies (connections vouchers usually cut down on how much we spend on food since it is "pre-paid"
DD 100% of the kids spending money and about 25% of ours
TC- what I would have brought in cash-usually about $200 for every 7 days of the vacation.
