I have been reading books on Aromatherpy and am really interested in learning more about it. I have bought a couple of oils and love using them.

I use Young Living Oils....they have the best quality oils I have found so far. I have a diffuser that I use occasionally but I also use some of the oils topically etc. I bought the Essential Oils Desk Reference from Amazon.com and you can read reviews there. It does go hand in hand with Young Living products but there is a huge amount of info.

I just heard about "Young Living" the other day. The girl that referred me is my massage therpist. I think I will try and find them on the internet.

Thank you AStarr for all your information it is very helpful. I copied the last email you sent me to a "Word" document so I can keep it with me. Lots of good health information.

How long have you been using the oils?

You are welcome for the info. I have been using them for almost 3 years now. As I learn more I incorporate more oils into what I use on a regular basis. I think it was good that I started out slowly because you can really spend a chunk of change when you get into it:scared1:

Now I know who I can go to for questions ;)

Wondering about uses for eucalyptus oil.

I could use some good smells. The only aromatherapy in my house is the kind you get from eating beans.

BLAH!!! You do need some good smells!:goodvibes

:lmao: :lmao: Oh, tag fairy!!

I don't really know much about aromatherapy, but I do put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in my kids' bathwater when they are congested and it sure clears them out.

I use lavender quite a bit. I have sprays for the pillows that help me sleep and also rice bags that I used for fibro that have Lavender in them. They really calm me when Im hurting.

I use dto be more into the rest of the oils I still have a bunch around here maybe I should get back into it.

I've been using peppermint oil on my knees and neck. Sure does help

According to the essential oil desk reference there are 4 different types of eucalyptus. 3 of the 4 originate from Australia and 1 from China. The medicinal properties listed for these include: diuretic, antibacterial, expectorant, antifungal, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory & insect repellant. Suggested uses include: throat/lung infections, decongestant, acne, urinary tract/bladder infections, respiratory/sinus infections. Applications range from topical (must be diluted), directly inhale to diffuse or put in humidifier. Fragrant influence: promotes health, well-being, purification and healing. Hope this helps!:thumbsup2

AStarr-How would you treat acne with eucalyptus oil if the person already has oily skin. Would that not make it worse?

I have never used for that but I'll just put what it says in the book (kinda long) :
Acne results from an excess accumulation of dirt and sebum around the hair follicle and the pores of the skin. This accumulation may be due to an over-production of sebum, an oily substance that is secreted by the sebaceous glands in the hair follicles. This leads to inflammation and infection around the hair follicle and the formation of a pimple or blackhead.
Acne in adults can be caused by hormone imbalances as well as the use of chlorinated compounds, endocrine system inbalances, or poor dietary practices. Heavy or greasy makeup can also contribute to acne. Stress may also play a role.
Essential oils are outstanding for treating acne because of their ability to dissolve sebum, kill bacteria, and preserve the acid mantle of the skin. Because essential oils may be slightly drying to the skin when applied undiluted, it may be necessary to dilute them with an oil (vegetable or grapeseed) to keep the skin hydrated. Sorry so long.

I have 2 daughters that have acne and hate it so much.

AStarr-Got the stuff you mailed me. Thank you so much. It even smelled good! :goodvibes

I have not ready all of it but am looking forward to researching more about the oils.

Please be aware that the only safe essential oils to use 'neat' (without diluting or dispersing) is Lavander and Tea Tree. Putting certain oils directly on your skin can cause severe burns.

Oils can be dispersed into alcohol (ruubbing alcohol, or even vodka) or milk. They cannot be diluted in water. You cannot add them to a bath undispersed.

You can also dilute them into a carrier oil, and then apply them to the body or into a bath.

The oils I am using I am getting from the Spa I go too. The bottle says you can use them alone or blended. What does "Neat" mean?

The information I have read on "Young Living" products you are able to use them alone also. Wonder what makes them different
