Do you use a fanny pack?

I wear a fanny pack - and got it for $5 at Walmart.

I am not a purse/handbag person. I never carry one.

On one wknd trip to WDW, I forgot the fanny pack & was mad I had to stuff everything into my pockets at first, but it was great to enter the parks as a guest with no bag!

I like having easy access and to carry snacks.

If your kids are small the fanny packs for them are a good idea, it can be a little helpful and it makes them feel big. As for teens it is a fashion no, no.

I'm exchanging my ever-present fanny pack for a string back pack this year.:goodvibes I'll probably pick up a new one from one of the parks; DS has a great one from the ASMo that he uses every year. Right now, DD is going to loan me one of her athletic logo'd ones. I'm just tired of that thing strapped around my waist, yet I have to be "hands free"!

I used to do the fanny pack, and always found them useful. But, I started carrying a crossbody bag a couple trips ago, and it's so much better.

I now have the Heys Travelmate bag - it has a place for EVERYTHING, including a small waterproof pouch inside it. It's small, compact and very comfortable. I highly recommend it.

I never thought I would wear a fanny pack any wear. My MIL wears one everyday, even around the house. But after the 1st day of our family's 1st trip in Oct., I went to the Caribbean Beach hotel gift shop and bought one for $15-$20, to use for the rest of the trip.

I carried it in the front and would turn it to the back for any pictures. The 1st day, I was carrying an across body bag, and had to remove it for every picture and it hurt my neck by the end of the day.

I have not used the fanny pack since the trip, but do plan to pack it for our trip in June.

Wow you got a lot of responses for this one, so I didn't read all of them. I bought a Sherpani "waistpack/shoulder pack" a little over 2 years ago for my last WDW trip. They don't make them anymore, but it is a really handy bag. If you are looking for something like what I have, check out a store like REI or other hiking/camping place. Mine is black w/ a floral interior, which I love since I hate bags w/ black insides (can't see my stuff). It has mesh sides for water bottles on both sides too. It can be a waist pack and I leave the shoulder strap on and use that to help me re-attach the bag when I take it off. Mine holds a lot of stuff, probably as big as a small purse. Super handy, and easy on the back. Also I don't trust anybody by leaving my bag on the stroller, so this has worked out nicely for me. HTH.

I have used both fannys and backpacks and let me tell you I love fanny packs!

We even decorate ours!

And yes, that's MY fanny pack, for a 24 year old!!! :lmao: I'm a princess too, darnit!!

I used a backpack but I hated swinging it off to get to stuff. I hated taking it off on rides. With the fanny, it's like you're carrying nothing.

And I certainly could care less how it looks. If anyone is trying to look cute in Disney, you have your priorities all off!

im sorry i dont care how convenient they are...there is noooo excuse for a fanny pack...i dont want to sound negative, so please forgive me this...but fanny packs are NEVER ok...i go to disney multiple times a year and every time my family makes fun of me and calls my bag the Mary Poppins bag because i carry so much, so i know about the need to carry the world comfortably...but if your hiding the fanny pack in pictures(yes i read the posts) you must realize how bad they are...there are some really cute bags out there that are comfortable and vera bradley makes a lot...i encourage everyone to go shopping and find the nice ones!

this is the end of the fanny pack rant.:goodvibes

I used to use a fanny pack but got really tired of having to go through the bag line and having DH try to get me to cram something of his in my fanny pack. I now wear cargo shorts or capris that hold my digital camera, wallet specifically for WDW, cell phone and chapstick. That's all I need. Hands are free and I don't have to maneuver around the pack to go to the bathroom, either!

I've used a fanny pack for years, my wife and kids make fun of me everytime I put it on.. Doesn't make a bit of difference to me, I have everything I need right there. Years ago I went to the indoor flea market, I think it was by Old Town in Orlando, and found it for under $10.

Love the fanny pack. We have been using the same one since 1996 and we only use it for our Disney trips. We picked it up at KMart for I don't remember how much.

Quite frankly, I don't care how it looks. We keep money, resort cards, Fast Passes etc. in it. We also have a back pack for water, snacks, etc. Anything we don't want to lose goes in the fanny pack. So anything that goes in the back pack we are willing to lose.

Like so many of us, I only wear one at Disney...but could NOT imagine walking around the parks without one!! Ugly, yes, but OMG, how convinient?!! I'm planning on picking one up, first night there, at our resort! They hold your DL, credit cards, maps, tylenol, room key, pens, autograph book...you name it!! Best part, not weighing down your back or shoulders!! :woohoo:

I use one all the time not just to disney.I also have it showing in my disney pictures.I even wore when I went to France and also wear it when I do my christmas shopping

I like the drawstring type back packs, they're lightweight and can be turned around and worn in front of you on rides.

Fanny pack user here and proud of it. I call them waist packs

Nope I never try to hide my fanny pack in my pics. And I will always wear/use one at disney and other type parks. I love being hands free and not having to worry about forgetting my bag. I don't carry a purse to work everyday so it would be very easy for me to forget it.

YES.. YES and YES.. The fanny pack is a must. If you're younger on this board and think its just a bunch of older people using the packs here's you're counter. Naomi is 21 and I'm 25 she had the pack before visiting and it was essential in the park. Sunglasses, wallet, park maps, iPhones, everything that could come out on a ride like Tower of Terror can go into that pack and you don't have to worry about loosing it. Hell Sony makes a "Fannypack" style holster which has a belt loop on it that I use to carry my Camcorder. That way I have it but don't have the strap over my shoulder and actually can retrieve it with one hand. If you're in a high crowd situation and are paranoid about being pick pocketed I'd imagine you could put a luggage lock on it. Someone would have to rip the thing off of you to steal anything.

abolutely, been wearing one faithfully since 1998 on vacation only, well, i lie vacation and also on black friday...............mine has in it: wipes, hand gel, dramamine, tylenol, pepto, sunblock stick, batteries, cash, c cards, chapstick, crystal light packs, ziplocks, memory cards, film, camera, hygiene supplies, band aides, vaseline.
