Do you unpack?

I love the idea of the collapsable hampers! I never thought of that. I'll have to find one at our nearby KMart or WalMart.::yes::

Another family that always unpacks.::yes:: We even have a system with the drawers at the Polynesian...everyone knows which is theirs....same each trip. Empty suitcases go on the floor of the closet with one designated for dirty clothes. When it becomes full, it usually goes in the trunk of the rental car and we start filling another one. We use lots of hangers too and housekeeping is great about that.

At BCV, we always unpack, too, but I do wash as we go. Throw dirty clothes in the washer (that's our hamper) at the end of the day and start the dryer that night or the next am before we leave the room. I don't mind this in the least and in fact enjoy leaving with all clean clothes.

it really doesnt take but a few minutes to unpack.....then we are free to enjoy our trip.....It's the packing up to leave that gets me.....cause I'm never ready to leave.

Now that I have kids I unpack.

I'm going to bring a pop-up hamper next trip. That Mickey bag wasn't big enough for the 5 of us. OK now I've got to admit the really strange part-I don't mind doing laundry at Disney. I find it kind of relaxing.

We only unpack clothes that need to hang to get out wrinkles. We take a garbage bag and put dirty clothes in it, then when it's time to go, we consolidate all clean clothes into as few suitcases as possible ( sometimes putting a full suitcase into a now empty one ) and put dirty laundry bag in a suitcase or some times just throw it in the van. I'm still on vacation so I don't sort out the dirty stuff until we get home.

When I travel I prefer to unpack and make myself at home to better enjoy my trip. I cant stand living out of a suitcase

I unpack first thing, and I'm constantly picking up the room of clutter. I do it more on vacation than I do it at home!! I don't want the mousekeeping to think we are messy people Ha!

:D

I unpack my suitcase. I even hang my shirts on hangers. It wouldn't seem like I was on vacation if I didn't get unpacked.

Yes, we unpack! The only suitcases we keep open is the one we start filling up with dirty clothes.......we put them in garbage bags first, tho.:D

I'm really surprised at how many people unpack. I'm definitely in the minority. I never unpack. We unpack the toiletries, etc. and leave those out for the duration of our trip. I never unpack my clothes unless there is something that should be put on hangers. I've always been funny about using the drawers in a hotel room. Don't exactly know why.

I'll unpack for anything over a 3 night stay. 3 or less, it's just easier to keep it in the suitcase, and I don't have to worry about leaving anything in the room.

4 nights or more, I almost always unpack. It's easier to find clothes without having to search through my bags, and by searching through messing everything up in the process!

I'm an unpacker! I also bring a large mesh laundry bag that I bought from Wal-Mart that we put the dirty clothes in each day. We also try not to overpack so once we get home we should have empty suitcases and one bag of laundry that does directly to the laundry room to be sorted and washed!:p

I do, but it's a me thing. I like unpacking everything and putting things away when I first check in. I leave the bottom drawer empty and put the dirty clothes in there. That way when I go to pack to go home, everything is together.

I put all my stuff in space bags when I pack so I can fit extra. I unpack the things that need to be hung, undergarments, and bathroom stuff. I usually push the suitcases in the closet type area, but leave totes, etc on the extra bed (at the AS). Only problem is that we won't have an extra bed this time (DD11 and DD1 coming), so maybe I will unpack and then pack the dirty stuff daily as an OP suggested. I know I have to try to pack less, which is not a problem for my stuff. I just bought so many cute things for DD11 to wear, that its so hard to choose! I want to take it all! How do you eliminate stuff when everything is new and adorable?

Okay I thought I was the only one! I HATE going home with a suitcase full of dirty laundry. It just makes going home that much more depressing. Also, our apartment has no washer/dryer, I have to go to the laundromat- so I'm stuck ith a trip to the laundromat my first day back. No thanks. I'd much rather do the laundry at Disney, taking a dip in the hot tub or stroll around the grounds while waiting.

Not only am I an unpacker-- that is truly one of the vacation highlights for me. We unpack EVERYTHING and really make the room ours. Stuffed animals arranged artfully, books propped up in the armoire-- clothes in the drawers-- I love settling into our home for the week. Suitcases go in closet, with the big duffel bag open to receive the laundry.

I have my self organized before I leave. Plus I have one of those "personals" organizers bags that you can order from QVC. Those bags are great!!! I can unzip the bag hang it up in the bathroom and all of my personal items are at my reach. No need to unpack and repack at the end of my trip.

The only thing I unpack is all of my "digital" equipment...laptop, camera, camcorder, etc. for downloading pictures at night and recharging.

Other than the "electronics," I bring a small cloth laundry bag to put our dirty clothes into the laundry room to wash. I also bring an extra suitcase for all of the stuff I buy at Disney to go back home in. I didn't do this the first trip and I regretted it. Those shipping charges add up.

I'm with you, disneyatl - I feel funny about the drawers, too. I just unpack toiletries and stuff that should be hung up. Otherwise, I live out of the suitcase. Who knows what's been in those drawers?? :earseek:

First we were warned about the bedding here on the DIS, then the pools, and then the dangers of hot tubbing......now it's the drawers in the room!!!! LOL! What next???

Though with someone just posting that they keep their dirty clothes in one of the drawers, makes me wonder what other things go in those drawers that we think are clean and therefore put our clean clothes in......... I know I've been guilty of reserving one of the drawers for our food stash.

I had no idea that it was so expensive to wash a load of clothes!
$2.00 per load plus $2.00 to dry and $1 for a small box of Tide.
I washed a load of blue jean shorts and black shorts and a seperate load if underclothes and socks. Then combined them in one dryer. Ended up costing me $4 to dry since weren't dry on first cycle. Was really, REALLY surprised since the condo we have in Panama City charges only .75 per load. Thank goodness we carried extra change w/us from the piggy bank! And no, I don't unpack either...most of our clothes are tank tops and shorts so no big deal w/a few wrinkles.
