Do you unpack?

I unpack. We usually arrive dinnertime and don't plan to go to the parks our first day, so while DH and DS are settling in for the night, I unpack. Then, like most of the posters, we bag our dirty clothes and repack them in the large suitcase. The smaller one is saved for clean clothes, presents, etc.

I NEVER, ever would consider laundry, that's my vacation, no cooking, no laundry, no making beds. But I sure do hate coming home to a suitcase full of laundry. I do like the idea of pre-sorting as you go, we'll have to try that. Thay way at home, it's ready for the washing machine. Thanks for the tip.

I used to live out of the suitcase until I started staying for longer visits and utilizing DVC. Now I unpack. I find that it is much easier to find items if I put them in drawers and use the hangers.

Also, DVC villas have a washer and dryer in the room, so I pack less...just throw in a load in the am and dry it in the pm. Works for us! Studios have access to a free laundry room - that's not as convenient, but at least it's free!

Poohbear123 - we do the same thing! My fiance always tries to put the stock market channel on and I tell him we're on vacation, he can do without the financial news (but he sneaks and puts it on when I'm getting dressed...).

We always unpack as soon as we get to our room. Not only do I feel way more organized (we bring a ton of clothes and toiletries, I'm a little high maintenence...), but I hate to see suitcases - they remind me that I have to leave!

We usually arrive at BC by 6pm, I immediately unpack, then off to dinner at Cape May. After travelling all day its nice to have a good meal then return to our room with everything put away and to sleep to rise in the am and off we go.

I only do laundry is really necessary otherwise no laundry, no cooking, we're on Vacation. :wave2:

It depends on how long we stay somewhere... 1 or 2 nights, then I don't unpack. But longer than that (which all of our WDW trips are) then yes I do. It's nice having things hung up and in the dresser drawers, makes it feel more homey too. :) We'll be in WDW for 13 nights next trip, we're moving in! lol

Yes, we unpack everyone gets a drawer and we hang the clothes that need to be on hangers..most already are I just transfer them from my lugagge to the closet...each person as a laundry bag because I always have my nieces or nephews with me and try not to mix the different households laundry together.

If we are staying in one of the Villas I will do small loads of laundry during our stay. I did my first load while staying at WL this past week in the Laundry Room.

I also try and bring a nice scented candle just in case the room isn't fresh. Just try and make our surroundings as neat as possable by placing all the luggage out of site, I hate a cluttered room.

I am like poohbear123. I have to unpack before I can start enjoying the parks and I also put on the Disney info channel. I like to put our suitcases away and keep the room as clutter free as possible. I am better at it on vacation than I am at home:confused3

I guess it all depends for me. This past trip in April I didn't unpack for a seven nights stay. I did unpack things like swimsuit, towel and sweatshirt. Last May we went for 10 days and did unpack and do landry once it wasn't bad we just got back from Blizzard Beach I got ready to go out for the evening and My DH did laundry I guess I'm more High Maintance that he is. This September I doubt we will do laundy we are going for seven nights but probably will unpack and put dirt landry back in suitcases.

I never used to--but now I definately unpack if the trip is more than 3 days. There is nothing special about digging through the luggage for your socks and wrinkling everything up. And that is what my husband does!

We take a pop-up mesh clothes hamper for our dirties. Our socks and other items can be a little damp at the end of the day. I want these to air out and dry before packing into our luggage. We have luggage that stores the small pieces inside the largest. I pack our dirties in the small and can still fit the small inside the large. It keeps the room neater.

we unpack toiletries and jackets ,shoes, sandals , PJ's,bathing suits etc .
I use the "ziploc bag" method of packing(1 complete ouftit shorts ,shirts socks ,undies ,in each bag) so we leave that in the suitcases. Just grab a bag and go. (extras socks, undies shorts and pants are in bags labeled "extra' for when we get caught in the rain or wet ride )
The kids (10 & 6) clothes fit in 1 gal bags, the big 2.5 gals fit us adults clothes and bulky things.
Like 1 of the previous posters "dirties" are kept in a pop-up hamper until we leave, then put in empty suitcase.:)
BTW I bought the 2.5 gal bags at target ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Wow - I guess I'm in the minority.

DH says he always unpacks on business trips. I was wondering how many unpack at Disney.

I must explain that I have 5 children ages 10,9,7,5 & 2 - so to unpack for everyone would take forever. Plus not even sure if there would be places for everything. I pack everything for 7 people ~ DH isn't much help in this department expect carrying heavy suitcases. Also I laundry on an "off" night because the swimsuits get yucky after a few days and it helps cut down on the packing.

I'm not as organized as having outfits in baggies, but I do co-ordinate our outfits some of the time. For Chef Mickeys will look better than the average day, to MGM the kids all wear their Disney movie t-shirts, etc.

We unpackeverything! I like puting my suitcase in the corner of the room, and not looking at it or going thru it while I'm on vacation. Plus it makes us feel more at home when at Disney World!

Once we get our room regardless of where we are on vacation. I unpack while the kids run around to find the ice machines. I also set up the bathroom setting up the over the door shoe holder....the best tip I ever heard was the over the door shoe holder, I remember when I bought it DH thought I was nuts now he always asks if I heard any more great tips.

::yes:: Also unpacker. I have to unpack everything. I can not live out of suitcases.

I even unpack for 2 night trips.

I also bring a scented candle. Sure helps if you get put in a smoking room. As I request a NS. But it is just a request.

I always unpack for a long trip (over 5 days). I usuallly do it the first evening we get there. Like other posters have stated, it feels more "homey". I put the suitcases in the closet and hang up our nice attire (reverse that ;)). DH and I each have our own drawer, and he gets one end of the sink counter, and I get the other--I organize that, too.

We unpack and then put our dirties in the suitcase. On wash day, it is very easy to just roll the clothes to the laundry room. Then we fold and put them back in to roll back to the room.

I did this last year and it worked out well--although I would prefer not to do the laundry part. DH was playing the PSP Paintball World Cup at the WWOS Complex. When he'd come back form a LONG, HOT, GRIMEY day of paintball, guess who'd clean up that NASTINESS? I don't mean cleaning DH, I mean cleaning his jersey, his pants, his socks, his undies-- almost all of it covered in caked mud and oily bright paint :crazy2: . And the smell left a lot to be desired. I couldn't just pack all THAT away in a suitcase, so doing laundry last year at Disney was MANDATORY.

I don't even have a chance to unpack when we get to our room...my kids do it!
It makes them feel like it's their home when they have their clothes in the drawers and closet.

It depends on my length of stay. If I go somewhere for only 2 nights, then I live out of the suitcase. If its 3 nights or more, I unpack fully. My last few trips to Disney have been 9/10 nights so I did fully unpack. I also only packed for about 5 to 6 nights of those trips and did clothes twice while there. Usually do load of laundry the night before leaving that way there fresh when I am home. It was sort of a bummer to do the laundry on the vacation but at least you get to go swimming in between.

I also like the homey feeling of being unpacked and have to unpack the first night that I there so I won't have to think about it anymore. I am also finding that I don't pack as much anymore either and almost everything gets used at least once.

I always unpack. Last trip because we were moving after 3 days I did not - but personally for ME - I found that painful.

My DH folds some of my clothes into the suitcase still on the hangers so when I get there I just pull them out and hang them up. I also use the plastic mickey bag they leave hanging up in the closet for take out laundry - for our dirty laundry and also pack a few small plastic bags from the grocery store for the rest of our dirty clothes. I also pack them back into one or 2 suitcases depending on the length of the trip.

Never thought about doing laundry = only used a dryer once since we got so wet and so did our sneakers - but that was when I was a newbie and did not bring an extra set!

I am really picky about this. When I pack I put all my shirts and DD's outfits on hangars and lay them in the suitcase. When we arrive I just hang everything right up. All neat and wrinkle free. Everything else gets put away in the drawers including toiletries in the bathroom. There is NO WAY I am living out of a suitcase for 10-14 days!! I also bring a collapsible hamper and put it under the sink. That way all dirty clothes go right where they should be and are ready for a trip to the laundry when it fills up. Our suitcases are put away and we also fill the firdge up with our drinks. We don't leave the room until everything is neat and in its place. I am usually exhausted when returning to the room and do not want to wade through everything to find what I want.
