Do you unpack during vacation or just live out of your suitcase?

normally, we just live out of our suitcases, but I've been thinking that with DS, we might need to put our stuff in the drawers.

Unpacking is the very first thing I do. It doesn't seem like a real vacation unless I unpack!!! I can't stand living out of my suit cases. Plus, IMO, it allows a place for dirty clothes until I go to the laundry. Also, something I almost always do while on vacation - laundry. I "hate" going home to dirty clothes. Its so much easier to unpack clean clothes. I'm a little control freak!

We stay in a DVC and unpack upon arrival. Everyone gets their designated drawers and the suitcases get put in the closet until we need to pack to go home again.

I pack with ziploc bags. A days clothes for each person is one bag.....so i toss all the bags into the drawers and use the suitcases for laundry.

DD5 starts unpacking as soon as we get in the room and then proceeds to unpacks her little brothers stuff. She then tells DH and I where we get to put our stuff. I like getting the suitcases out of the way and I hang some stuff to let the wrinkles fall out.

I unpack also everyone has their own space. But I must say I have this thing about the drawers. I must use a Lysol Wipe and wipe them down first.

As with all PP I also unpack before I even take a break. The second the bags hit the room, I start to put everybody's stuff in their drawer. I tell everyone where everything is so I don't have to hear "Mom, where is my____" a thousand times.
It makes everyone more relaxed and saves time by not having to rifle through 4 suitcases looking for 1 thing.

I also unpack, each person gets a drawer or place in the closet. I can not stand digging through suitcases searching for stuff. I also lay out clothes each night for the next day. It gets us going faster.

Definately unpack. Keeps the room tidier plus allows a place to keep dirty clothes.

I do the Ziploc thing to. Then Dh can dress baby and baby will still look how YOU wanted him to. One outfit, one diaper, and one pair of socks. Much better to have things in drawers so baby isn't tripping and getting into suitcases. Also, with a one year old I would bring a Shoe Hanger for the back of the bathroom door ($1.00 at Dollar tree) and put things you don't want him getting into in the top pockets. Invaluable!

I do exactly the same thing! I unpack as soon as we get in the room and get it over with.

This Nov/Dec we will unpack minimally @POP, we arrive after 1 a.m. & will checkout after only 1 other night. so PJ's, ziploc w/toiletries & the next day's clothing, that's it.
We will stay longer at OKW, so yes, everything put away in drawers. I just feels better! Makes the time @ WDW seem more real & home-like!

Same here! We leaving Friday and are staying at POR for 2 nights before checking in to OKW on Sunday. I will only unpack the major necessities for those 2 days/nights. Once we are at OKW, I will unpack everything. It does make it feel more like home, and keeps things neater. We can put our suitcases under the bed until our last night (I don't even want to think about it! ) when we re-pack to go home.

Yes we unpack. Its just easier for me to see what we have and to choose what to wear every day.

Used to live out of the suitcases.....but No More!! It isn't anyfun digging through suitcases to find one thing...then another. With my bunch I need order! So, I make an effort to unpack and it works for our group!

If it's just me travelling on my own somewhere I never unpack. But on my recent 12 day Florida trip with DW and DS, we definitely unpacked. To much equiment involved with a 7 month old baby to leave it all in a suitcase.

Yes it is the first thing. I help with the stuff in the car and then my dh and son if he is along helps unload the rest. Unless we are at disney then they bring the luggage. I unpack, hang up clothes and then immediately fill up the fridge with water etc and rest a minute afterwards. It is nice not having to dig through a suitcase to find things.

Always! It makes me feel like I'm going to be staying longer! Plus, it's just easier not to have to dig around in the suitcase.
