Sorry for the late reply to this thread. If I'm off topic or someone else has already stated this please forgive me.
My camera does not automatically shut off unless it is prgrammed to do so.
I have programmed it to shut off after a short time of unuse, but keeping in mind the battery life I shut down after shooting. My DW recently got the Cybershot and we used that for our last trip to WDW. Worked well. I worked the video and she took the stills. We try to switch it up, but for the most part I am in most of the stills and she is in most of the video.
