Do You Think Year of A Million Dreams Will Continue?

There is a thread that talks about some of the magic that has been passed their way, and I don't believe that 90% of them were for YOAMD. I know ours wasn't. We were there last December. But, it does sound like CMs are being allowed to sprinkle the pixie dust generously. Do you suppose that this is the new attitude of Disney? I know that they have always had friendly CMs. I know that they are given liberty to do kind things, but do you think it will be promoted more? If so, I think it would be awesome. WDW is about the magic. And while they might be cutting some of the acts here and there, and they might be trying to cut spending, don't you suppose that spreading the magic is fairly inexpensive and very popular. Do you think that WDW is really going to promote the magic even after this year has ended?

I would like to believe that WDW is using this as a launching pad for this to be the type of service we'll see all the time. One thing they do well is try to outdo the competition, which they do well at, but by raising the high standards they've already set for themselves, then the competition will need to rise to the occasion even further. Better to be the leader than the follower when it comes to this :thumbsup2 .

We have 58 more days...and I'm hoping for some Disney Magic when we get there :cheer2:

"The Year of A Million Dreams" is the name for the Sweepstakes which will end in December of 2007.

"Where Dreams Come True" is the Celebration tag line which is what you are talking about and they are anticipating this to be the example for future experiences at Disney.

As you mentioned the little things that are happening that do not incorporate the actual sweepstakes prizes are in a sense getting back to the way of old Disney. Back when I started with the Company 11 Years ago, this is how it was. Cast had the ability to make decisions on the spot, give things away to an extend. For example, your room is not ready, it's after 3pm, "Why don't you go to Beaches and Cream and get an Ice Cream and we will pay for it"... Resort package delivery from the parks used to be delivered directly to the rooms, not the gift store for you to pick up (they are going back to this). The "magical moments" are coming back, like Being the Riverboat Captain, Monorail Pilot, etc... Games while waiting for parade. These are all things that we used to do, that kind got lost along the way... they are bringing this all back and will continue long after the Year of a Million Dreams / Where Dreams Come True has ended.

So yes, the level of service you are seeing in the parks with this will remain long after it has finished up :) I am really happy to see it returning!!! pixiedust:

I am very happy to hear this! I have had wonderful vacations at WDW for the past 30 years, but I can't say that I can recall magical moments with cast members since I have been an adult. I know that a little dusting of pixie dust can go a long way and I think this is very smart on Disney's part to put more magic in guest's vacations.

This is so exciting. I cant wait to hear from folks on here who have had a littel magic come their way. I have also thought all the while we have gone to WDW that Disney should consider delivering packages to your room. This would be such a great little way of letting people feel the magic of Disney.

1) I, too, hope the Pixie-Dust giving extends beyond Dec-07.
2) CM's used to LOVE giving out pleasantries to guests.
3) This enhanced trhe guests' vacation.
4) It also made the job of CM better and more fun.

Making small wishes come true would be great all the time! :wizard:

On the last day of trip last Dec, it was almost time for Fantasmic dinner package seating in the stadium. We'd done most of MGM, but the line for the GMR had been REALLY long all day, and we knew we wouldn't have time to wait before Fantasmic. We asked a CM when it closed, and it was before Fantasmic ended.

She must have heard our dissapointment as were walking away (mainly because this was the last WDW trip for a couple of older family members), and told us to wait there for a second. She came right back, took us in a side door, and put us right into a car! We got to ride AND got to the gate in time for Fantasmic seats. It was an awesome experience, and everyone floated the rest of the night!

I'm glad to hear that this is what Disney is going back to. That is wonderful.

Every trip that we have ever taken has had a bit of pixie dust here or there. From getting free photos from my first meeting & hug of Mickey Mouse at the ripe old age of 34 to our last trip when Mickey & Minnie sent us a special anniversary card and balloons in honor of our 7th anniversary. We love WDW. I know that lots of people think that I am nuts because I go back at least once every two years, but it's the most amazingly peaceful spot on Earth. My inner child gets to finally roam free....it's just about as close to Heaven as I am gonna get with a beating heart.

I am so excited that we are planning a trip during this particular Disney promotion. The magic potential is higher than ever and I will be in need of more pixie dust than usual......turning 40 is a milestone that causes every woman a bit of anxiety....regardless of their ability to admit to it. :rolleyes1

Bring on the pixie dust! My inner child is a going on a pixie dust bender next fall! Maggie
