Now that Epic Universe has opened in my eyes I think it will cause Walt Disney World to lose some visitor attendance and more people will visit Epic Universe than Walt Disney World. I also think due to Epic Universe Walt Disney World will have competition and possibly we will see Walt Disney World lower it's prices. My mom happened to watch the opening of Epic Universe on the news this morning and my mom agrees that Epic Universe will steal some of Walt Disney World's visitors because Epic Universe's ticket prices are better than Walt Disney World's at just $35 for park admission so I think once Memorial Day hits more people will visit Epic Universe than Walt Disney World. And I'm curious to see what Memorial Day weekend attendance for Walt Disney World will be like due to Epic Universe's opening week

I think at first once more people discover Epic Universe Walt Disney World will start to finally lower it's ticket prices and lower the prices for hotel rooms at their resorts and once the hype over Epic Universe calms down we will see Walt Disney World begin to finally put better rides shows and improve itself gracefully. But I think people will prefer the prices of Epic Universe's tickets over Walt Disney World's ticket prices because from what my mom told me at $35 a ticket Epic Universe is a better deal for people than Walt Disney World

Don’t think it changes a thing for Disney. They’ve really not been concerned over Epic and I don’t think yesterday’s opening changed their outlook or plans one iota.

At the start Epic has a very limited capacity level until July. So no potential impact until then. Even still in July they have things capped around 22,000 guests.

Possibly just a blip on the radar but no major impact for this first year.

Epic is still a great addition to the Florida parks.

In many ways, Epic won't change much at WDW. EU looks amazing, and we're certainly going to check it out at some point. But the restrictions and requirements to get into EU at first won't lead people to be making a special trip there just to do that park. The one area I think it definitely has impacted Disney, is they really need to pick up the pace on expanding their current offerings (which they've done a bit), and perhaps even finally get on that 5th park!

You mentioned it twice. Where did you see the tickets were only $35? Looking at the website, the lowest are at $139. For a 3 day pass, it works out to $117 per day with no hopping and only one day for Epic.

To the rest, I don't believe Epic will lead to Disney lowering prices. May take a few guests away from Disney for a few days during a trip, but not a huge impact. Disney may offer some specials or sales but the overall starting price will not decrease.

Maybe the $35 ticket is a one hour pass, valid only for gift shop entry.

How much is parking?

If anything, it might help Disney attendance. People may come to visit EU who might not visit Orlando for Disney. But since they are there, they take a day trip over to Disney to go to the MK or one of the other parks. And as others have said, where ever did your mother get the idea that a ticket for EU was $35??? That might buy you lunch but not park admission!

I don't think WDW will see a rise in attendance but I think that some Disney folks will also go to Universal more so than in the past.
However I also think that Universal is overall not a return visit for most people so in the long term WDW will still thrive more.

I voted yes! My reasoning is that at first everyone is interested in the new park. Eventually, that will fade when the newness wears off. There was a price comparison done and Universal is slightly cheaper than Disney. I personally will not be in a hurry to go to Epic Universe. I will wait till the crowds die down!!!

You’d be better off going now while attendance is capped at lower numbers than when they open it up to full capacity.

I can only speak for myself, but Epic will cause me to spend one day at universal, or at least think about it, for medium to long trips. It will be no more than one day though. I don’t see myself going to the other two universal parks much if at all. Overall, it’s a welcome addition, with about five rides that I think I would find worth repeat visits.
