I am beginning to think he is sexually addicted. We already know he has an extremely compulsive personality.

He's a man, a man who has the ability and the power to do with this libido whatever he can. Imagine a kid in a candy store with an unlimited income.

He's not new, special or unique. He just got caught.

And because of the nature of much of our society, his transgressions, such as they may be, will be subjected to often-times vicious public exploitation. I often find the manner in which the media and its audience deals with private situations like this as despicable as the transgressions themselves. It seems to me that it should be 100% up to the victims of such transgressions, if there are any, to determine how much public attention is paid, and what type of public attention is paid, and if the transgression is victimless, then no broad public attention of any type should be paid.

Yep, that is also my feeling. It has probably been going on for a long long time. Wouldn't be surprised to find out that his dad was keeping him from being outed.

Yep.

My brothers were telling me that HIS mother was running "interference" with his wife while he was with these ladies.

(keeping it DISfriendly ;))

I think he has issues.
His life was planned out for him from birth. He was on a golf course at age two and spent his entire childhood on one.
I believe when his Father died, it brought up a whole mess of childhood trauma and he went a little crazy.
So I'll say, sick. Maybe.
Possibly Michael Jackson syndrome.

I totally agree.

Studies show that money and power are huge factors in men who take many mistresses...Tiger is just one of many ~ one of many whose wife should leave him in the dust, but one of many just the same:)

to me, he is typical! I really hate to say that....but it does not surprise me, and it makes me sick he could do that to his family! And I honestly hope she kicks his butt to the curb and takes him for everything he has! She deserves so much better!

I do not care what kind of issues he has! I hate excuses as a cope out! He did it....he now has to deal with what he has done! I always say, what goes around, comes around!

It's funny though: At first, he said nothing, rightfully labeling the issue a "private matter", and people complained about that. Now he has expressed "profound apology" and acknowledged he has "behavior and personal failings", and people are complaining about that.

I believe that any system whereby there is no means by which a person can go forward without it (the moving forward) being considered an error is a system without integrity. I'm surely not excusing what Woods may have done in the past, but if people do not have a very clear picture of what he should do now, then there is no legitimacy to criticizing anything other than what he did before -- there is no legitimacy to criticizing what he's doing now if people cannot outline a reasonable summary of what he should be doing now instead of what he is doing (acknowledging that he has failings, and apologizing).

What she said....

You're mistaken. What I'm paying attention to is the manner in which the audience deals with these private situations. My comments have all been directed at that.

OK, I'll give you a reasonable summary of what he should do now:
1. He should grovel at the feet of his wife and children for as long as it takes to make them (but especially his wife) feel better. Additionally, if his wife never feels better, and leaves him, he should totally and fully accept the responsibilty for the demise of his marriage. None fo thisa "I had a hard childhood" or "she wasn't a good wife" crap.
2. He should apologize to all the kids in his "I am Tiger" commercials for letting them down, because clearly they shouldn't want to be like Tiger, since this is not behavior that anyoone should try and emulate.
3. He should beg forgiveness of whatever entity, if any, he believes in for his huge moral failing.
4. He should take some of his money and do something good with it. And perhaps he already does take some of his money and do something good with, and if that's the case, he should take more money an do more good with it. Let's be realistic...he already has more money than he and his family will ever need to live very well for the rest of their lives. I'm thinking he should spread a little around to organizations that promote family, maybe children's organizations, or those that help women whose husbands have damaged their lives in some way...abuse, single mothers, victims of deadbeat dads for examples.

It's a 4 step plan because clearly Tiger isn't as smart as he or everyone else thought he was if he thought that this was never going to come back to bite him on the "tush".

Sorry bicker, but someone who makes millions of $$$ off his public persona does not get to say "I'm sorry and I want privacy". He has chosen to be a public figure, a celebrity...with the good (lots of $$) comes the bad (loss of privacy). Clearly he wasn't worried about privacy when he was scoring chicks or he would have been able to figure out that someday his privacy would be gone....the day has arrived.

Sorry Dr. Spock, but humans criticize other humans all day long without needing to legitimize it. That's just the way we are.

I agree. When you agree to the money, power, endorsements and 'good life' that comes with being a celebrity those perks aren't free. And today, Tiger is paying the price.

Tiger is in a world of hurt right not and it has all been his own making. There was an article a few days ago hypothesizing that the media was going after Tiger so vehemently over this because over the years he has been less than corporative with them. He wanted the fame, money and status but refused to play ball. Now it is payback time.

For the OP's question. I think Tiger is no different that any other athlete. He is rich, powerful, good looking and feels he is above the rules of normal people.

I've been in the same room with Tiger more than once and there is definitely a public/private persona. He doesn't talk to anyone and no one is allowed to talk to him. When he is around, everyone plays by Tiger's rules.

I would hate to be on his crisis PR team right now because every day it is something new and I'm sure he hasn't told them the 1/2 of it. I'm not sure he recovers from this. Not fully.

I let the PR world 10 year ago but I actually have a different plan.

1) Let Elin go. 1 or 2 women and he is helped if she stays. Now it looks like a shady PR move. Staying after 10 (though I don't buy a few of the stories) isn't good for anyone.
2) Pay Elin a HUGE settlement. I'm talking Paul McCartney numbers. Plus child support and leak the amount.
3) Grovel and enter Rehab - I don't care if he is addicted to anything or not. The public forgives rehab. Claim oxycotin, pain killers from the knee surgery. Check in to some secluded spa/rehab in Arizona for a minimum of 3 months. Drop out of sight.
4) Come back and win big. Take the Masters in April and all the majors. April 2010 may be too early depending on how big this gets, so do it in 2011. Winning helped Kobe.

Am I the only person who is sick to death of the term "sex addict"? When life gets embarrassing people try to garner pity by calling it a disease. Give me a break. Let's try to distance our poor character by playing on people's sympathy. Poor addict! Let's call a spade a spade: He WAS SELFISH.

Oh and people are analysing whether Tiger can make a comeback? Is his wife going to make a comeback from all of this? If she has an STD, is SHE GOING TO MAKE A COMEBACK???

No I don't think he's sick although I'm sure he'll end up claiming some "illness" to try and save his image and people will buy it.
