My friend and I are renting a table at a community flea market. It is a bake/book and flea market sale. Suppose to get quite a crowd. We are selling new and used things. I was thinking of trying to appeal to the family crowds. We were thinking of selling tattoos, face painting and balloons. What do you think? We were also maybe thinking of selling glow sticks but can't find them for under a dollar and didn't think people would pay more since it is a day time sale and the glow sticks wouldn't be standing out in the daytime. Does anybody have any other ideas that would be a big hit at one of these sales???? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. :flower:

You'd get us at the table...'course we live in the great white north.

I don't go to many flea markets, but, it's great when someone has something for the kids - they usually find it SOOOO... boring! :hyper2:

I LOVE Smilies :flower3:

Kiddie sunglasses might sell well. We buy about 12 pair or more a year for our 9 year old. He either can't keep up with them or they get really scratched....they are so cheap we just buy more.

It would be a hit with my son...loves tatoos. Especially sculls, snakes, dragons, & OCC.

don't know how much time you have before the flea market but you can check out orientialtrading.com. they have a lot of things that you buy in bulk for cheap. I once bought the glow stick necklaces from them. Kids really like bounce balls. Another thing that will sell is candy. If you belong to bjs or costco you can buy bulk candy (right now bjs has summer candy items) to sell.

I did a craft fair before. I made predecorated scrapbook albums. I had Disney ones, baby ones, teen ones, school days ones, etc. I sold ONE album. I lost money on the deal because I had to pay for my table, which cost more than what I made on the book. Anyway, the lady behind me had goody bags filled with halloween candy (it was around halloween). She had like a ziplock bag filled with a handful of the miniatures. Then she tied them up with a ribbon. I think she was selling these for $1 and they flew off the table!!!!! She was also selling these pipe cleaner crown things. Basically she put a pipe cleaner in the shape of a circle to fit on a little girls head, then she tied curling ribbon and curled in to hang down the back of the crown. Talk about cheap!!! But they were flying off her table. Every single little girl I saw walking around had one of these on. Here I was with these scrapbooks that I spent a lot of time making and I couldn't sell them. (They were priced reasonably too!). She had these little trinkets and they were selling like hotcakes. So, to make a long story short, I think your stuff will sell fine!

Tattoos and face painting is always a hit with my kids. At our school spring fair they do manicures for kids. Some teenage girls let the kid pick a color and then they buff and paint the nails and give the kid the bottle to keep. They have the girls put their feet up and they treat them like royalty through the whole thing. There is always a huge line for that.

I love the manicure idea. CheapMom: Do you remember how much they were charging to have this service done?

This is so different from anything that I have seen before. I can't wait to tell my girlfriend.

Thank you.

This is a great idea!! I have a dd8 and she always asks to buy these, instead of the pipe cleaner tho you buy that 'tinsel' the one with stars, or hearts, or Shamrocks, or bells, etc... gold or silver... get that at the party store for the "crown" then use the curling ribbon for the streamers in the back!! Real cute!! Real easy to make too!!

I think she might have had that tinsel star stuff too!

DARN! I just bought the supplies to sell handmade scrapbook albums on ebay. Oh well, I got everything either at 1/2 price or clearance.

I like the crown idea...gonna try that for our next flea market.

I really appreciate all of you helping me. I am so inspired. I think that I will try the crown headpieces as well. I have to run this one by my girlfriend. I made these for my daughters party before. What do you think if I sell these for $3.00 each? Does anyone have any ideas what these would sell for? They have a big sale every year in September here and every little girl around, including my two, have these on their heads. I didn't even think of it. We are going to Hershey this year and are going to go to Disney next March so all of the money that I make I hope to put towards my Disney trip. Thank you so much. :goodvibes :cheer2:

I am interested in what to charge for these too!

Believe it ot not, I paid 410 for one of these crowns at a fair before. depending on where you live, $5 is a good price.

oh and we are selling glowsticks at my yard sale, I bought them on e-bay 1,00 for $40.00 including S&H. Even for $1 a pieace, I will make money back.

At our school carnival the biggest line was for "build a bear" stuff they got little 3 inch or so bears from oriental trading and they had made felt skirts ,vests and crowns out of pipe cleaner and beads the kids bought the bears and the accessories separate

At our craft fair I brought the Mom's "Diamond" Pin. It is a pin back with a piece of silver ribbon and a dime glued on it. There was a little story about Mom being worth a diamond but all I could afford was a Dime-on-a-pin. Sold them for $1.50....I can not think it cost more than 50 cents to make!!!! You could also do Grandma Diamond pins!!!

Have you tried oriental trading company for the glow sticks. They often have 20% and free shipping codes if you order their catalog. I know that if you get your order together and then call them they will give you free shipping if you ask. I saw glow sticks as low as $3.95 a doz and swizzle glow stick necklaces for $11.95 a doz.

Our flea market is this Saturday. We're hoping to make a nice chunk of change. We are going to do the nail polish suggestion, face painting, tattoos, and crowns. We also have various toys and some used items such as clothes and books. This will be our second one. The first one we made a combined $150.00. We're hoping to make double this money. It is suppose to be a nice day out and I'm sure that there will be a much bigger crowd than out first one. Canwegosoon: do you have any idea as to what the poem said? I am interested for our next sale. We didn't have time to do these for this sale but I am interested for the next one. Also, thank you for the suggestion for the candy but we are not allowed to sell candy outright because it is a bake, book and flea market sale so they want to have the only food there. One thing that I am doing though is: We bought plastic purses, Nemo, Barbie and Minnie and Mickey. We are going to put a few pieces of candy in it and a ribbon and hoping to get $2.00 each. Does anybody think this is a good price? Oh, and by the way, we are also doing grab bags. I have some for boys and some for girls. We are going to try to sell these for $1.00 each. Any other suggestions.
