Do you think the Post office will go the way of the Dinosaur?

Most of the stuff we get in the mail is junk, so I wouldn't miss Saturday delivery. Like some PPs said earlier, I also wouldn't mind going to a M-W-F delivery schedule.

If our post office is handling so much less mail then why do they still lose so much of it? Yes, we continue to have constant problems here.

The most annoying thing is that when we get the mail, we get tons of junk that we don't want - stacks of ads, local "magazines", and various other solicitations. I also HATE it when my credit card companies send me blank checks in the mail...it's just something else to shred.

Respectfully, though, none of the fault there can be ascribed to the postal service. Even they can't tamper with the mail (e.g. sort through it and toss the junk).

I don't really care if they eliminate saturday delivery, but what about holiday weekends since most fall on a Monday. That is a long time to go without mail delivery!

I really think they need to close some post offices and expand into kiosks. I hate going to the post office as it is not convenient. Kiosks in grocery stores would be much more convenient!

But not feasible, from a cost or space basis. Even the smaller post offices are more than just locations to mail letters and buy stamps. There's one in a strip mall not too far from here that also provides post office boxes, package shipment (and so storage)... how do you handle that in a supermarket where space is already at an expensive premium? Where do you put the packages until a mail truck picks them up? Heck, where do you hold the mail? And the PO boxes?
