Do you think POP will be rethemed?

I know a few years back, it was a conversation already when the legendary years buildings were unbuilt. Rumors were spinning about a rethemed resort for that side of Hourglass Lake to become what is now AOA and a lot of people wouldn't buy into that rumor at the time. And it really happened.

What do you think is in store for the current POP (half) Century? It really makes no since un less they simply rename it. AOA in my opinion, is just another AllStar Movies and I think it should have just been what it was supposed to be....but that isn't the case at this point and my guess POP may be rethemed or even moved to what the current Allstars are now. I mean why have two movie resorts, and a half century resort?

I opined before As Sports shouldn't host teams as this would be better suited for a hotel at the actual WWOS. That opens some working room for a lot of ideas.....

Any thoughts?

I don't follow your train of thought well.
Is there something wrong with the century theme at Pop?

No, I am actually disappointed it wasn't completed.... It was supposed to have a whole other side for the rest of it's years ('00-'40) where AOA stands now. If you search "Legendary Years PopCentury" there is some amazing concept art for what that would have been.

No, I'm aware of that and saw it and understand why it was scrapped. I just wan't sure why Pop would need to be changed from what it is.

I am glad you all feel this way. I want to try POP at one point but not for this coming trip and don't want to see it "ImaginEARed" into more AOA before that happens. With the Flamingo Crossings village set to start it was speculated that a resort for sports teams would open AS Sports for a retheme as well along with rumors of POP rethemed into more AOA.... Just wondered if there was any insider info on here :)....

I think the sports teams will for sure fill Flamingo Crossings. But I think that will move them on from the other hotels they use over the otherside of the I4, for example the Radisson at Celebration, (which when I was there when Pop Warner was on got trashed by the families, kids and adults alike) There is still a need for the AS hotels IMO.

I just can't believe they rethemed it on the other side of the lake. So many people like POP and yet half if its final realization wasn't met. I like AOA too but even that feels "incomplete" at just four themes. In fact I love both AOA and POP, but feel that each is getting shafted in some way when I think about it subconsciously... Lol. I agree if POP is making money why change it? People like it.

I think the reason they didn't just complete the POP theme was because it was such a long time later, and they knew that if they used their characters it would make for a good product for the family market.

Yes,they did it because they wanted to do Suites and they didn't think "Legendary Years Suites" would be as "fun" as Nemo Suites,Cars Suites, etc.

(The Little Mermaid buildings were already built when the decision for Suites was made.):)

I don't think POP will get re-themed and it never even crossed my mind that it would be necessary.

- Only resort I would re-theme is Music, it's the miss in all the Disney infused value resorts.
- AllStars are ALL together, POP is it's own independent hotel.
- POP is slightly different from the AllStars and I see no reason to compare them.
- Maybe we just look at it as the POP years of the Century, after Rock n Roll started.
- I stayed many years taking pictures of the Legendary Years and was SO happy when they decided not to build out. The suites and highly popular themes = good decision.
- Legendary Years .... no appeal to me, but I think they realized families with young children - a popular demographic - would not be interested in staying with this theme. They want Disney.
- I can see all the folks asking to be moved after being placed in the 30's aka Great Depression buildings.
- Flamingo Crossings is not going to have a sports theme but rather amenities to appeal to sports teams.
- The only way Disney is going to get teams to move off property to these hotels is to not give them room discounts and/or require tickets be part of their packages. That way the teams who don't spend money at Disney will move offsite, maybe to Flamingo.

I guess I just don't see any issue or problem with how any of the resorts are themed now.

Definitely-the Flamingo Crossings Hotels won't have anywhere near the capacity to house all the large groups.

On an added note..... A common complaint of visitors is the sports groups at their resort choice without advanced notice. We personally had no issue with teams/ groups as they were at our resort both trips to Music and Movies. However a baseball team was generously practicing fast pitch at the Sports Homerun pool with no concern of guests trying to walk through or swim..... That seemed a bit dangerous.

Flamingo Crossings would only need a small footprint for a Disney resort if it follows suit and builds vertically. Practice facilities have already been planned for the sports groups to use along with transportation to WWOS and the Disney Parks.

It seems like it would all just leave a lot to the imagination for the values.... Most people want to see Sports team/ group bookings removed from the properties....

People are willing to fill Disney's rooms at a non group rate. Disney would make more money. I think the sports theme would probably be on the line if that happened.

Disney needs to keep up with the updated stylings of Universal's new value resorts so it really makes me think, with all of the facts and information we have, the Value themes are on the line for some updates.

Don't get me wrong, I love all things "Disney Original ". Our trips to Music and Music were awesome. We want to do a POP trip. And AOA. I just was getting a lot of subliminal messaging from projects Disney has in motion that points to those possibilities. Especially with the competition from Universal's onslaught of value resorts that kind of rock, lol.

But, the thing with Pop Century is - I'm almost 54 years old, my husband almost 56. We will soon have three grandkids - two of whom have already been with us to Disney World (with their parents) and have stayed at Pop Century. While those kids might not know things about 50s-90s, their parents and grandparents do. And one of the greatest joys is showing and telling the kids things they never knew and how quickly things have changed since 1950. Our granddaughter had no idea what a floppy disk was and then we told her. A dial phone? And then we told them. And it opened up conversations about just how fast things have moved. It also opened up a conversation where I remarked that I felt the same way when I talked to my grandmother about how she felt to have electricity in her house for the first time and how television replaced radio for nighttime entertainment.

So, for me, Pop Century is there to bridge generation gaps and get families to talk to each other about what used to be, what still is and what has changed (for better or worse).

AoA is very different from All Star Movies. It's also a much nicer resort- across the board. Have you been there? Not comprehending the comparison to All Star Movies at all.
