If it shows to much, than yes, it is innapropriate, if it doesn't, then it's fine. I see women do that all the time. Even during Women's jogging competitions on tv.
After seeing some of the "appropriate" and "cute" bikinis that are currently all the rage for people who can AND those that shouldn't wear them... seeing someone all covered up in a sports bra to jog in is kind of a relief!
As long as it doesn't show anything inappropriate, I don't see the problem. If a woman takes off a tank top and has on a sports bra, the only thing additional she's showing is her stomach. I see more guys running without shirts on than women in just sports bras. I don't see anything more appropriate/inappropriate about either. Of course, sometimes I'd rather see neither...
I have no issue with it whatsoever. Heck, up here we ride horses in sports bras if it's really hot. I'm not in shape like I used to be, but I'm still almost all muscle, so I have nothing to hide.
No - I don't think it's inappropriate - that's what I wear when I run. If I wear a shirt over it - even a tech shirt - I overheat and have to give up the run. I don't mean to offend anyone but it's all about comfort for me and my top is the "meant to be worn alone" type ...
Nope, not inappropriate. Bad taste maybe depending on how they look and how much flesh is hanging over (I say this as a plus size girl, I DO NOT work out in a sports bra and shorts LOL), but not inappropriate.
My first thought was what torch and pitchfork neighborhood committee member is sitting there typing in questions like this to message boards so they can pass some sort of bizarro obcenity rule for the neighborhood .
I think caring about what other people wear when they're jogging is inappropriate, fwiw.
It's amazing how standards for this sort of thing vary by culture. Dh and I went to a resort in the Dominican Republic last year and realized very quickly that it was a "tops optional" kind of place. There were a lot of European women of various ages that didn't have a problem letting it all hang out. There was even one chick that decided to play volleyball in the pool like that. It was quite a shock at first, but by the end of our stay we were kind of used to it. I was suprised to see a woman take her shirt off and just wear a bra walking around the resort, but I guess she wasn't any less covered than she would have been wearing a bikini.
Cultural upbringing really does make a difference. My parents are European immigrants, so I spent a good part of my childhood at European beaches visiting the relatives. Tops were pretty much optional at the beaches I visited as a kid. Some of my aunts and cousins rarely wore tops while sunbathing.
I am in my 50's and was just watching some home movies at my mother's house. I was at Jones beach in NY in the 60's, around age 6, playing in just a bikini bottom, no top. Nowadays, I can just imagine how the other Americans were looking at my parents back then having their 6 year old running in the waves topless But this was perfectly natural on the European beaches I was accustomed to playing on. Although, it was shortly after that my parents realized that maybe in this country, it wasn't such a good idea
So, that said, I think sports bras are perfectly acceptable and much more supportive and attractive than the midriff peasant blouses and hip huggers we wore in the 70's.
