do you think I can do this???

Stick everything you won't need immediately in a box and ship it UPS to the resort!

My parents do this occasionally when they fly down.

Fly light, stuff's waiting for you at the front desk when you arrive.

Pack the heavy stuff in the carryon, the light stuff in the ups box.

You don't even have to tell your hubby you're doing this...

As long as you can fit it under the sit, you can carry it. So take a backpack or a small duffel type bag along with your roll-on bag. That will give you more space and if you are a purse carrying person, just make it a small one and put it inside the backpack or small duffel bag.

I just got in the mail a really cool lime green :) messenger bag from llbean. I am thinking putting my fanny pack in there (I never really take a purse to wdw, just a zip up wallet), passporter, sweatshirt (cold natured), and our 2 rainslicks. luckily we are not doing nighttime fancy sit downs. (no V&A--I could see me rolling DH's suit up in the messenger bag ;) ) I have our sitdowns at lunch planned, and dinner counter service. last trip we did the reverse, and that was way too much dinner time for us.

now I have to go pack his carryon. grrrrrrrr... pirate:

Huh :earseek:

I'd be telling him to pack his own bag and see if HE can do it since he is so insistant that it can be done :rotfl2:

Maybe you could leave half his stuff at home and put your stuff in his bag. :rotfl:

Just tell him that all your things wouldn't fit in one bag and you didn't think he'd mind

You can do it, I use to pack way too much. But I don't anymore, I hate to check in luggage. We went to Hawaii for about 9 days and all we each had was a carry on. I had that bag really packed!

I went to Vegas and SoCal for 9 days and packed only a carryon and a small tote bag for medication and makeup. It can be done. Wear your jeans or long pants on the plane and a light sweater. Those usually take up the most room in a carryon. Wear your sneakers and pack your sandals.

On a recent trip on SPIRIT airlines, we had one of the older DC-9s and anyone with a rollerbag had to gate check them because the bins are sloped and couldn't handle them.

Well, pack enough clothes for 1/2 yur trip and do laundry 1/2way through. Better yet, make DH do the laundry!! You can always do the 2 different bottoms and interchangeable tops thing.

I know I couldn't, but good luck to you!

we did it on our trip in June. We each took the largest bag as our carry-on and then each had a tote bag as our personal item. WE used the ziploc bag method of packing and it worked great! We are NOT SMALL people!!! DH is 6ft 4 about 240 and lets just say I'm NOT small!!

I think everyone on our plane had the same idea, there were lots of us with carry ons and totes!

You can do it. Most people tend to overpack when they travel. Just put out what you really need to have. You can wear shorts more than one day. Only take necessary shoes and toiletries. Take a large backpack if needed to put toiletries, cameras, etc in. Ziploc bags work wonders. :flower:

Why does he want to do this? :confused3 Are you in a hurry?

Curbside checkin rocks.

It's against my religion to have security paw through my undies with everyone looking, then haul a very heavy bag to the jetway only to fight for overhead space. No thanks. I check everything.

I can tell you why *I* do carryons only most of the time. I usually am going to meet a friend(S) at the airport who are going to be coming in after me.

For instance, next week I am flying into PVD and I arrive about 11:30 a.m. Friends are arriving after 1:30. If I have a checked bag, I have to leave a "sterile" area and go to baggage claim. That means I can't return to the gate to wait for our friends. There are some aiports that have limited or NO food/coffee areas like DTW's NWA terminal in anywhere BUT in the gate area. If I stay in the gate area, the bag remains on the carousel and I risk someone taking it, etc.

Besides, most hotels have a laundry room available if needed.

My motto is: "Travel Lite".

That is a good point. I also have to say that I get tired of EVERYONE packing just a carry-on and then fighting for space over MY expensive seat, nay ROW (since there are at least 3 or 4 of us travelling), then sneering at my 1 yr old dd and saying "make sure she doesn't kick me." Ummm, you JUST whacked me in the head 6 times trying to shove your suitcase into the bin, she gets to kick you 6 times, then I will make her stop. ;)

Seriously, I do want to know what happens and if you can get this accomplished!! Good Luck!!

We did it in April for a 4-night trip. Shorts, shirts and swimsuit don't take up too much room, and I brought along one nice outfit for our anniversary dinner. Managed to get it all in, but nothing left over. You could do laundry if you run out of clean items. Depends on what size of clothing and how much extra stuff, toiletries, cosmetics, shoes etc. you plan on packing.

Good luck!! :sunny:

yes we are in a hurry. we are going to hit the ground running as they say and try to get to park opening as close as possible. our plane lands at 0725 and we are getting a towncar. I know we won't make park opening, but we kinda want to be there as close as we can. Last trip DH flew into MCO (some business trip 2 mths back) he had to wait on his checked bags for over 35 min. Probably a isolated incident I am sure, but DH really wants to avoid the claim area at all costs...Seriously, I really overpack and it is a nice lesson for me. Don't worry gals, I'll be checking it on the way home, and have a big bag of goodies. :smooth:
