Do You Think Home Resort Owners Get Room Request Priority?

Upon check-in at BCV this week we had all of our requests met plus we got a bonus 4th floor Epcot view. I feigned shock but the front desk CM laughed and said we should not be surprised. She said since BCV is a home resort of ours that the room assigner would have worked extra hard to meet our requests.

So, what do you all think? Is there some truth to that or is she just blowing smoke?

Well, if that is so I'm hoping we get treated extra special when we stay at our home resort (SSR) in Oct.

I hope so, too! Will be at SSR 7 days from now!
Interesting!

SInce the advent of "room ready", I do not think home resort owners get any special request priority.

I sure wish they would, though. I liked it when rooms were preassigned according to the date the reservation was made. I do not much care for "room ready"

Best wishes -

I'm thinking it was smoke. Don't you think those "room assigners" have a lot to look at? Each reservation probably has some type of request, view, floor, location and then to look at who owns where is added in. Whew.

Interesting! I'd like to think it works that way...and especially priority for DVC members vs cash paying guests.

We got a great ocean view top floor 1BR with a big balcony at Vero. It was in building 12...which was far from the pool and the beach access (though the resort isn't huge). When we realized which building it was in...the CM took care to tell me about the view and mentioned that all other available units were 1st floor. We couldn't have asked for a better room!

Loved the size of those villas...can't wait to get to OKW.

I think she was blowing smoke up your skirt ;) but it sure is a nice thought! I am going to OKW grand villa in July, and I am having nightmares about being in Bldg. 11-14! We stayed there ONCE, and I hated it, so whenever I have a bad dream, it's always about staying in those buildings. :sad2: I am claustrophobic, and the woods are WAY too close! There just wasn't enough air in the room to breathe

I don't think so!
The best rooms I ever got at BWV (all Boardwalk view prior to guaranteed Boardwalk view) were using OKW points.
The worst rooms I ever got at BWV (smoking when non-smoking was requested, sales center roof view for preferred view points, etc.) were all using BWV points.

I'd be surprised if room assigners can even tell the Home resort of the points used to book.

Maybe not directly, but they can sure tell the date the reservation was made.

Obviously, reservations made prior to the 7 month window would have been made with home resort points. Sure, that wouldn't cover everyone, but would catch most (IMHO).

Best wishes -

Probably just blowing smoke. This past November I had 3 rooms reserved, and only one had met my view requests. Plus, it took us until 6:30 that evening to finally get into our rooms, so I hate to see what time we would have gotten into our room had we not been staying at our home resort.

If you think you got special treatment for DVC membership then that is great for you and DVC and WDW. Does it make any difference whether or not they were blowing smoke at you or not; everybody wins.I think they address as many requests as they can but can't do all that much just because your DVC. So much depends on arrival dates, accomodations requested, and how filled they are at the time you arrive. :smooth:

Probably just blowing smoke. But it is funny that we have always had great rooms and views at OKW, BCV, and Vero over the past 8 years. And we own at each of those resorts. But the last two times that we stayed at BWV we have received very bad views of the DVC back building. I'm sure glad that building is gone now.

Well, I for one don't believe they give home resort "more priority" as to requests.:scratchin We stayed at BCV's last Oct. (our home resort is OKW) and had every one of our requests met...which I was just ecstatic about :) We also checked in around 7:30pm too!

So I don't think so....

I am not sure whether or not smoke is being blown but I was explictly told by the CM handling our checkin at the BCV last month that not only is home resort considered when trying to meet requests but that room assigners take into account how long a particular guest has been a DVC member.

hmm....that's interesting then....maybe being a member for nearly 8yrs is equivelent to a brandy new member who is reserving at a home resort?

Still makes you wonder though as "how many times" have you heard one CM say something is absolutely the truth and yet another CM says is completely the opposite:scratchin ....so ya just never know.

Now THERE'S some smoke!!! Unless someone definitively knows otherwise, there is no way I would believe that the resort's reservation system can track DVC contract start dates. :rotfl2:

That is, of course, a very good point! Are there any CMs/ex-CMs around who might have any info on the subject?
