Do you think Fps are needed at AK if you rope drop?

We will be at AK 4 weeks from today. I am looking at the wait times currently, and almost 2 hrs after park opening, the highest wait for what we want to do is 20 min. (Kali is 40 and we don't care to do it). I have our fps starting at around 10 am bc we plan to stay until a little after lunch and then park hop that night. I am wondering if I would be better off to cancel those fps and then make them for our evening park. Or, would it be better to wait until that morning at the park and cancel them if we see that we don't need need? Would I still be able to book at another park or might fps be gone? Thanks!

I'd cancel your current FP+ in AK and reschedule them for your evening park, and I wouldn't wait until day-of to do so. You run the risk of no or limited availability for certain attractions by doing that. We RD AK on every trip and are done with the attractions by mid-morning.

Last November was the first time I did a rope drop trip, it was wonderful. FPs were unnecessary for us, except in the case of Soarin vs. Test Track. Everything else we were able to ride with little wait, and had finished what we wanted to do by 12-3PM everyday, loosely following an EasyWDW park touring schedule.

I haven't been since then, and I know they have expanded FP+. I would still encourage you to hold off on using FP until your second park, it's just going to be more crowded and therefore useful then.

Last August we had Tusker house reservations about 30 mins before opening. When we got done we were able to ride everything we wanted (and Everest several times) before 12. I wouldn't use any FPs for AK.

MK and there are EMH from 11 pm until 1 am so I think it might be crowded and good to have them. We won't be getting there until around 7 after dinner.
