Do you think Disney will ever institute a loyalty program?

I could see them offering a revenue based loyalty program, i.e., the more you spend the more perks you receive. That would put big spending tourists on a more even footing with local AP holders. It might not seem so now, but as Disney continues to increase prices they may come to the point where they will need to offer more perks to guests in order to make the high prices seem justified.

For what Disney is getting from my pocket for 2014, that would be great!!! Heck... even "Spend $10k, get a free night at the Grand" would be appreciated.

Yes it is BUT....... every now & then they give us DVC members a little something in return for our annual payment of loyalty!! (LOL) Such as recently getting to see movie previews like Guardians of the Galaxy (this was our 5th movie preview so far within a year) & WAY better AP discounts than usual !!!

DVC members also have certain perks like discounts on dining, WDW APs, water park/Disney quest tickets, and shopping. In addition, we qualify to purchase the Tables in Wonderland card at WDW, same as AP holders or FL residents. We just did this for a 10-night trip and it saved us a ton! Saving on souvenirs was also very nice.

So yes, DVC is a timeshare, and yes, perks are not meant to be permanent, but the fact is that DVC members do get discounts on certain items.

So true BUT..... being AP Holders most of the time living so close to DISNEYLAND we get BETTER discounts by being AP holder than DVC member!
10% for shopping = DVC 20% = Premium or Premier AP
10% for dining = DVC 15% = Premium or Premier AP

THIS is why I mostly pointed out the other PERKS we have been enjoying recently as DVC members. (Finally upgraded to Premier w/DVC discount - been asking for this for a few years now)
All the others as you mention are fine too but we USUALLY only go to WDW like every 2 years! It may change if they keep offering great discounts for the AP's!

So far all other perks I have not needed such as SPA discounts, bowling discounts @ Splitsville in DTD, Sunrise with the animals @ Animal Kingdom lodge, DVC cruise (hopefully soon) Tables in Wonderland card IS NOT accepted during holiday times which is when we are at WDW so no go on that! The discounts @ Aulani are good ..... but also WHEN I can go (hopefully sometime next year)! Still holding out for MORE perks in the near future for us DVCer's!!!
