Do you think Disney will ever add another Magic Kingdom hotel?

My thoughts..
1) I think they could add another MK hotel, indeed with a back entrance (a la YC/BC) when then do the Tron Ride that I read was supposed to be 'behind' space mt..
2) I too wish they would build a new park but I feel they lack the imagination for a new park. look at whats happened. THey lost Walt's vision for EPCOT... a long time ago. Hollywood Studios was a great idea.. but they have lost the plot for that too. Its become a movie amusement park, transitioning from a movie THEME park. Animal Kingdom.. they still don't really understand what they have there. It has a lot of potential but yet remains (even with the addition of ahem Pandora) a most/part of ONE day visit for many people.
They seem to me to be going after short term money in place of long term vision. The one park that still captures the scope and grandeur of Walt's vision is the one he actually helped to design - MK. Everything since then fails to compare.
its just my thoughts/opinions...

I think that the monorail hotel loop has enough for the Kingdom not to mention Wilderness lodge just a boat ride away. There is plenty of land elsewhere and I don't think they need to shoe horn something else in

I bet they will take down the CR's south wing and build another BLT building.
I really hope not! We frequently stay at the CR south wing because the price is lower than the tower. It would make our vacations a little bit less magical.

A hotel in the back of MK is never going ot happen unless you want to lose the fireworks. Part of backstage is CM parking and then past that is the fireworks launch zone. There is also office building etc. All of that would have to be cut off from guests before they could ever build guest access areas back there.

Now somewhere on 7 Seas Lagoon is possible.

The video was interesting. i actually had an old "guide book" that included the three hotels. I wasn't aware about how close the hotel that was slated to go into the now GF location was close to actual construction.

I also remember visiting the preview center that opened while WDW was initially under construction. It is still there. It is now the AAU headquarters.

I doubt they will be extending Seven Seas lagoon to the west. It is basically a swamp (actually Seven Seas was a swamp before being dredged out). Years ago Disney spent money to improve the area west of the Seven Seas lagoon for conservation purposes. Basically to mitigate other fill-in activities else where on property.

I just cant understand the continuous building of new hotels and the lack of the building of a new park.....so many people in limited space
That's an interesting question. I agree with your point if we're looking at it from the Guest perspective. From Disney's side, the opposite is true. They get more people coming to WDW without the gigantic expense of a new park. I'm not saying this approach is right, I'm just pointing it out. A new Park is a massive financial commitment, not just with the construction of the Park itself but all the other support services and improvements required. Roads, parking, transportation, emergency services and water/sewer infrastructure, etc. The improvements required for roads and Utilities could be massive as they affect more than just the new Park. The other interesting aspect of this question is the conversion of Disney hotels to DVC reports as well as the continuing expansion of new DVC Resorts. The last 2 DVC Resorts took existing hotel rooms and converted them to DVC rooms (Poly and CC). The Poly is a monorail resort which is what we are talking about in this thread. Does that mean those hotels were under achieving or is the profit from DVC sales so high that they would sacrifice hotel rooms for DVC rooms? I think the latter. Why would Disney take out hotel inventory from the MK area then construct a new hotel? Probably because the MK hotels do well financially and would support it. But, the MK area and monorail could be overbuilt. I'll tell you one thing about these conversion projects, they save around 50% of the cost of new construction when they remodel existing instead of build new. Does that savings reflect in the cost per point? No (but that is a whole different discussion). Another point - They have just announced dramatic (and expensive) improvements to the MK and EPCOT. With 4 existing Parks, the cost to maintain those parks and keep them current and upgraded are high high. Those improvements must be paid for out of the operating budget. Sorry about rambling on here, I just wanted to share some thoughts on the subject

Just my opinion too, and I get where you are coming from but I often see people on here constantly saying that Walt's ideas and vision were so much better than anything else that has been put into design since. And everything pales in comparison to things he did.

For me, I kind of want it to be that way. No problem for me holding onto the thought that Walt was/is/and always will be the best imagineer ever! It's why MK is/was/and always will be the place to remember him the most.

On the 5th park comments: man, I hope not. At least not until they restore Epcot to something inspirational first.

I think that's the plan..... from everything coming out of D23, Epcot is going to be a very different park by its 50th anniversary. I don't think we'll get a 5th gate for decades, if ever.

I think it'll depend on what Universal does. If they start building a couple more parks Disney will feel obligated to do the same to compete with them. Until that happens I could see them not building another gate.

Another park would be awesome. I wonder what them they would go with.
I know there were rumors of a villains theme park. They were going to have maleficent's castle as the main castle. I think it got scrapped because they feared it would be too scary for little kids.

I thought Disney kinda realized that as they opened AK, the area kinda lacked the available workforce for more parks.

I hope we get a resort that is themed off Fantasyland one day. We have resorts that complement each part of Magic Kingdom BUT Fantasyland. :/

Grand Floridian... Main Street USA
Wilderness Lodge... Frontierland
Contemporary... Tomorrowland
Polynesian... Adventureland

So tell me where is my Fantasyland themed resort?? I hope it happens in my lifetime.
