Brunette, you mentioned something about Chef Mickey's being surrounded by walls rather than in the open. I wonder if you're thinking about the old Downtown Disney location? That's been a while ago though.

As for Mickey not walking around, Pooh doesn't walk around at the Crystal Palace either. I guess that we were always used to that so it never seemed like a big deal.

Almost $30 for a picture! Wow!

Hi! No, it wasn't dtd, it was the Contemporary, I have a picture of Pluto kissing (licking) the side of my face. This was for breakfast too! And believe it or not I think the price was $9.99! LOL! I just don't remember it in the "open".

I think this Mickey thing has to do with Free Dining??? Get em in Get em out! Don't linger with Mickey, it takes up too much time! LOL

Why didn't you tell us!? We'll miss you! LOL!

Listen, have a great TRIP! I know you will.

Give us all the news of what's new, exciting, or not so exciting.

Have a Wonderful Time!!

Wish I was going.

thank you! We definitely will have fun ;) We always do. We are pretty laid back about the whole thing. We even let the kids pick what we do. We have spent hours just riding the carousel. It was so bad one time that DH told DD that her horse died of cholera and we had to get off! :rotfl:

They get off (she was about 3 I think) and she says to me "Mama ~ what's cholera?" I said "why do you ask Mimi?" and she said "Daddy told me my horse died of it"

Nice. The problem with having a small adult for a child is that sometimes DH forgets that she actually IS a child!

She came home and told EVERYONE that her horse at Disney died of cholera.

$9.99. Isn't that something?

I remember when we could easily stay at the Polynesian Resort too. Not so much any more. :rotfl:

Suellen, I see that you are about to leave for WDW. No fair!

Seriously, have a great time. :)

Ok Ladies. I am hitting the hay. I'll see you all on the flip side! Have a marvelous week!

Oh now you are making me sad planogirl!!I too remember when we used to be able to stay there(barely). Not anymore either!

My mother took my brother, me and my girlfriend at the Contemporary wing in 1978 for a mere $89.00 a night! LOL!

We went three times in a row when DS was a babe. That was 14,15,16 years ago. I don't remember the price but it was affordable.

I would love to stay again someday but it's way overpriced IMO.

Is that at dinner? We've always had Pooh walking around at breakfast!

I do think the Chef Mickey change is poor (and I'm a borderline Disney apologist!)! Very poor!

Please let me know how good the pizza is at Pizzeria in Italy.Give it the full review price, etc.

I had the pepperoni pizza on Tuesday(9/14). The prices are 16 for a personal,27 for a large, and 36 for the really big one(don't remember the official name). All I can say is after more than 25 years of steady Disney going,,the words great and Walt Disney World pizza can now be used in the same sentence!! The mozzarella was so fresh that you could almost think they made it just for your pizza. The sauce was so tasty, and the small pepperonis were really flavorful.

Was at CP on 7/3 this year. Pooh was walking around and leading the parade.

It's been a while since we've been or paid attention to characters. It's been a particularly long time since DS was into characters. I must be way offbase here or thinking of the old days. :flower3:

Been busy, so first time back on here in days. Just a few points:

1. Chef Mickey - as mentioned, other characters are walking to tables, it's just Chef Mickey who will be outside for a photo. Just like at Tusker House, where other characters are at tables, and Donald is outside for photo.

2. Crystal Palace - Pooh absolutely walks around to tables. Was just there 2nd week of July. Now, if this is the wave of the future, where main headline characters are stationed outside, then perhaps Pooh will be too one day? But honestly, CP is very crowded, as there is a display upon entrance to the restaurant. At both Chef Mickey's and Tusker House, you have more available space for that. They would have to refurb Crystal Palace to accommodate an area for Pooh to be outside.

It's interesting how Disney thinks in regards to this type of decision. I hardly think it's the money of the photo, contrary to what some of you think, as they would NOT allow photos with guest cameras, and they do, so it must be for geting more people in and out, and this would then equate to more money in food as more tables are turned around.

Glad to hear the other characters will still be walking around.

I know, I'm wrong about Pooh! I don't know why I thought that unless he used to stand in the front. I dunno.

Luckily he still moves around - please ignore the other post.

It bugs me that I thought that though. I keep seeing him in my mind standing at the front and I wonder where that impression came from. I do know that this proves that it has been way too long since we had breakfast there. Next time! :)
