They used to have the noodles lying around the pool and if you could get one you could use them. Now from other posters I see that you have to purchase the noodles although they don't cost much. I wonder if people don't buy them and then just leave them for others to use.

The SAB lazy river isn't really that much of a river, it's quite small.

$15.99 to $35.99 is an awfully wide range! How do people budget for buffets nowadays particularly if they have large families?

Exactly! They should specify $15.99-$19.99 children under 10 and $26.99 - $35.99 for Adults depending upon Holiday surcharges. This is ridiculous.

So if I understand the one poster they are no longer gonna say exactly when the surcharges will happen? The prices are gonna go up and down secretly at their will? If this is true wow is that sneaky, borderline dishonest in my opinion.I really don't know how you could begin to figure out how much money to bring for food if you were a big family.I guess the only way would be to figure the highest price for all.:confused3

It's things like this that push folks towards the DDP. Have it all paid ahead of time and hopefully you don't have to worry about how much $$$ you'll need.

You definitely should NOT vacation in Maine then. Most of the restaurants here that have seafood are priced daily. They don't even advertise a range. You find out when you sit down.

Restaurants can change price and menu without notice and you can always order something else if you want but buffets are different, you have no choice but to leave. I would prefer to know in advance how much I would be charged so I could make plans.

Your above post is well worded. I totally agree. We went to BOMA 2 years ago, and were expecting to pay the $26.99 but were told it was "Holiday Season 3 weeks past Memorial weekend and the total was approximately $33.00 per person no $26.99 as expected! There should be a sign at the restaurant at the very least with pricing. We were NOT happy! I also asked them what was the HOLIDAY? Now they call it summer pricing. What I call it is gouging people.

They should at least advertise buffet pricing on the official website. I looked yesterday and only Liberty Tree had a menu with the exact price of $29.99. The other buffets had no menu and no exact price. This isn't a good business practice in my opinion. I agree with other posters that people have a right to know how much their dinner plans are for budgeting purposes, IMO.

Hey Suellen!

Yes, I'm in Maryland and usually lobster is "market" price. They will not tell you unless you ask. But seafood such as crabcakes and such still have the same pricing. I guess Lobster pricing goes up and down? :confused3

Hey, we live in the Techno age. All the Disney IT people have to do is a little IT work and they can post accurate prices for the entire year (including surcharge months -and please tell me when did we begin to celebrate the holiday "summer"?) Hey Disney.....call a pig ear.....a pig ear and say it's a Holiday and Summer surcharge....then we can prepare our budgets accordingly.

Awww heck, the next surcharge will probably be "you are lucky to be here during slow times, so pay more and enjoy the short lines" surcharge.

Yeah, they can charge whatever they want as far as I'm concerned, but I'd like it to be a set price that is known in advance. They have a (somewhat) captive market and it is their prerogative to set the market as they see fit. I just ask that they be up front about the cost to allow people to plan. I guess it is easier to get someone to spend $40 for a meal once you're already there, while if you knew it was going to cost that much ahead of time, you might just budget for a rental car and eat offsite.

The way I look at it... If I've gotta ask, I can't afford it.;)

Hehehe - I sure hope not, but that was a good one - that's the reason I go during slow times. Cheaper pricing on rooms, low crowds, and usually less humidity!

Oh yeah, don't you love seeing **Market Price** all over the menus... Translation - We can charge you whatever we feel like and you're going to pay it. HA!!

I don't think I commented on this thread yet so here goes.

No, Disney has not gone down hill. Some people notice some things more than others. Some will complain. Some will cry. Some will sleep. Some will try... to get a rise.

Ok, I'm not a poet. I know you know it. Let's not bash... we're not trash. Nor is Disney, but you will see... some have to pee, on your knee.

OMG off topic but have you been to the new Capn' Newicks?????

I had a CUP of lobster stew and it was $18.00!!!! :scared1:

And guess what folks! The price isn't even on the menu! I should have known better and asked... but most places around here is it 7 maybe 8 for a cup of lobster stew.

I knew it was bad when the bill came and DH said... "this will be a one time venture"

I had to ask him he didn't even want to tell me. And that was just my appetizer!

120 pages and counting....

since this thread is about Disney going (or not going) downhill, this thought came to mind: does anyone know what services are outsourced vs. inhouse employees.

for instance, housekeeping: outsourced or direct employees?

does anyone know if there was a time when all WDW employees were direct vs. outsourced and whether or not there is a correlation to teh perception of WDW going downhill in certain areas?

I don't know for FACT ~ but I HEARD from a massive complainer in the hot tub at Beach Club (the DVC section) that it was outsourced. His complaint was that they were painting the building :scared1: WHILE he was there. Then he proceeded to tell me they are there every other WEEK and the previous trip was a month long. Um so when are they SUPPOSED to do maintenance. He seemed to think it was because it was outsourced.
