do you think that they will apply the Pixar theme to all MR cruises as they have done to the California Coast in the hope of selling more staterooms?
Thanks
Nikki

? not sure what you mean by applying the Pixar theme to all cruises. The Dream and especially the Fantasy are FULL of Pixar already.

KSF--just have to wait and see. I don't know which fills ships better and generates more profit for DCL--the restricted fares or the KSF. I suspect we'll see one or the other this fall as the ships are not filling for the most part.

I think the Pixar cruises sound really interesting.

From the DIS:

Disney Cruise Line announces Pixar themed cruises!

by Leah Zanolla
May 30, 2012

The Pacific Coast cruises on 9/16, 23, 30, and 10/7/12 will be the first Pixar-themed cruises for Disney Cruise Line. These seven-day cruises on the Disney Wonder set sail from Los Angeles and stop in the ports of San Francisco, San Diego and Ensenada, Mexico before returning to Los Angeles.

There will be a variety of onboard activities revolving around Pixar, including meet and greets with characters not normally seen onboard the ships. Guests will be able to meet over a dozen of their favorite characters, including Mr. Incredible, Remy, Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear, in meet and greet areas, as well as several Pixar-themed dance parties in the ship's lobby.

Fans of the films will appreciate the behind the scenes look at Pixar's creative process with artists and filmmakers from their Animation Studio. Guests can see how the newest film "Brave" was made, as well as check out footage from future films not yet released. A Pixar art exhibit will display "storyboards, character sketches, environment paintings, maquettes, and concept art" from the films. The collection is rarely seen outside of the Pixar Studios.

Need to catch up on your Pixar films? All of the films, including the animated shorts, will be shown onboard in the theaters. Guests will even be able to see the premiere of "Finding Nemo 3D" while onboard! Disney Cruise Line's popular "Toy Story the Musical" will be shown as part of the ship's nighttime entertainment.

As a reminder of their special cruise, each stateroom will take home commemorative lithograph from Pixar artist and "Brave" co-director/screenwriter Steve Purcell.

Oh, man! I wish I knew about this a long time ago. My DH just loves everything Pixar related. I wish I could give him this!

I so wish I could do this but alas no. Out of my top ten favorite movies of all time at least eight of them must be Pixar. hopefully these will return in later years

I just have this weird/good feeling there may be a KSF (Kids Sail Free- to help newbies out - because in my mind, I'd be thinking it meant KFC) on the west coast sailings soon...:wizard: At least that's what I tell myself...:cloud9: This is what I tell husband to be prepared for, when he wakes up and see the credit card charge :) HOPING HOPING HOPING :)

hoping for KSF on our Galvestown 8 night Carrib....since we have two rooms- 5 kids! DH and I are doing a little 7ny MR getaway Nov 4th, and honestly, I think they ARE filling up. We did the same cruise last Jan/Feb and there were insides available right up to the last week. Right now many of those MR cruises are sold out of insides, or have only a few cats available.

Have they ever offered KSF for Alaska cruises on DCL? Do you think they may offer this in the future? Do any other cruiselines offer KSF for Alaska?TIA! :flower3:

Starts the day we leave the Wonder!

You must be getting off on Sept 16 since that is the day we are getting on for the first of these cruises :) I guess these special cruises aren't selling that well..there are only 4 and all they do is the Pacific Coast leaving and returning to LA. We jumped on this well over a year ago, since it sounded great, and didn't know if it would be offered again, which I am now doubting it will. The additon of the Pixar events is just extra icing on the cake. Even more excited now:)

I think it would be awesome is a KSF pops up! I think I may just jump at the chance if it does. I am thinking my friend and I could take our preschool aged dd's for their October bdays and leave our boys at home. I can't pull my 2 boys since they will be missing 2 weeks for the PC cruise in Dec. The cruise is in San Diego on a Friday which is just 45 minutes from our house. I could have my inlaws pull the boys from school early that day (so that they get credit for them being there!) and surprise them by meeting them down in San Diego. See, my wheels are already turning!!! :lmao:

I'm on the repo cruise from Vancouver to LA. Spending a few nights outside DL and hitting the parks after.

I would think they might need to do a KSF sale for those Cali coast cruises because its crazy to me that there's only 3-4 months until sail and it looks like you could pick any cabin you want in any category you want.

It does seem like they are trying to stir up some interest and bookings before doing an all out KSF.

I actually would love to do one of those and one falls on my kids fall break but I can't see paying $3400 minimum to go to San Francisco and San Diego.

I think those cruises and the MR would sell faster if they just knocked the price down a little. :confused3

I wouldn't be surprised to see more discounts on these. We are booked on the Sept 23rd California Coast cruise. We had an inside room book originally and then the price dropped so we rebooked at the lower price. Then they offered the VGT so we rebooked again at that rate. I'm not sure why but they have removed the VGT already. Maybe they will try that again or the KSF after the paid in full date.

In any case, I'm excited about the additional Pixar characters (and events). And I'm also glad to finally hear them advertising DCL in the LA area. It is the first time (other than one billboard) since they have been here that I have seen advertising at all for it. No wonder (no pun intended) that those cruises aren't selling well. No one here (that isn't on the message boards anyway) knows about it.

Yes, they offered KSF on the Alaska Cruise May 2011 sailings, it was announced at the end of January. I remember booking the same day.

Thanks so much for that info E&Cmom...If I can ask you how you found out when it was announced? Just checking the specials on the DCL website? Disboards? Email from Disney? TIA :)

Thanks guys, am keeping everything crossed for KSF as dont think we will be able to go again this year if not
x

Does anyone know if you can combine the 10% discount from on board booking and the KSF?

We live in San Diego, so while the Ca Coast itinerary is not my favorite, it would be awesome to go on the Wonder one last time before she is gone for good.

AND my DS loves Buzz Lightyear.

I don't know if the Canadians know this but there is 15% off the Pacific Coast cruises for Canadian residents.

By chance :)I was actually looking to book the repositioning cruise from LA to Vancouver that September but I sat on it too long and by the time I was about to book there was only more expensive (verandah) state rooms available and then I saw on the website that they had KSF to Alaska which was perfect. I live outside of Vancouver so the no flying expenses sealed the deal. :)

I know when they announced last years KSF to Mexico there was a thread on here.
