Do you think animals go to heaven?

Not according to the Bible, but I don't know, some people wouldn't be happy in heaven without their pets, so I would think God would let them in.

I believe that animals have spirits so it follows that animals will go to Heaven. How could Heaven be perfect without wildlife and domestic animals anyway?

I am also not sure. I guess because of the reasons people give. God breathed a soul into man which makes man different from an animal. But I am not sure whether that means they'll not go to Heaven when they die. I will always hope that they do because I have loved many a pet (mine and other's). I think if they aren;t there we won;t mourn for them just like we wouldn't be mourning for a loved one who wasn;t there (although that is also crazy sounding to me...)
As far as pets being more deserving--I think they are 9x out of 10 more innocent than people but no one (person) "deserves" heaven (the way that I read the Bible). JMHO. So my answer is, I don't know, but I hope so.

I used to believe that they did not, but someone pointed out to me that the Bible describes Paradise and says the lion will lie down with the lamb, the lion will eat straw like the ox, the young child will play near a cobra's den, etc. so where do these animals come from? Would God create new animals to populate Heaven or would those who have lived here be there?

Obviously I don't know, but I think the animals will be there. :goodvibes

to answer your question...yes, I believe pets go to heaven.

This story goes around in emails...and I think it's a wonderful story:

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them. After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by an arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before it, he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like Mother of Pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.

He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?" "This is heaven, sir" the man answered. "Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked. "Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up." The man gestured, and the gate began to open. Gesturing toward his dog, he asked, "can my friend come in too? "I'm sorry sir, but we don't accept pets."

The man thought for a moment and then turned back towards the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog. After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road that led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book. "Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water?"

"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there." The man pointed to a place that couldn't be seen from outside the gate. "Come on in." "How about my friend here?" the traveller gestured to the dog. "There should be a bowl by the pump." They went through the gate and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveller filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree waiting for them.

"What do you call this place?" the traveller asked. "This is Heaven," was the answer. "Well, that's confusing," the traveller said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven too."

"Oh you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's Hell."

The traveller said, "doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"

"No. I can see how you might think so, but we're just happy that they screen out the folks who'd leave their best friends behind".

I thought of this as soon as I saw this post. Love it.

One of the nuns at our school told my sister (25 years ago) that animals do NOT go to heaven. That set my sister OFF because she loves animals so much. She argued with her that most animals are MUCH more loyal than most people and that if people can go to heaven, so can animals.

I think my sister is right. There are few purer souls than that of a beloved pet. They love unconditionally--wish PEOPLE could figure this out too.

I believe we'll be able to see whatever we want to see in the afterlife.

I STRONGLY believe we will see our pets in Heaven! There is nothing anyone can say to make me change my mind. I truly, truly believe pets are waiting for me at Heaven and when I die, I will see them again!!

I like to think they go to heaven, but I guess we won't know for sure until we get there!

If they don't, I want to go where they go.

My dog is family and the thought of losing her is very painful to think about.

I think Heaven is a state of perfect happiness with God, and therefore anything that would contribute to that state of perfect happiness will be there.

That includes my pets, chocolate ice cream, and lasagna for me!!! ;)

It wouldn't be heaven if my fur babies weren't there. I believe that my grandpa is up there playing with my fur baby, Riley, and they'll both meet me at the gates one day.

Where else would they go?
Two years ago when my cat, Felix died my DH and I took him to the vet for that final trip. My mom stayed here with our 2 dd's. When we got back my Mom told us what Kathryn had done. She went out on the deck, stood on a bucket, looked up at the sky and started whispering. To this day all she will tell us was that she was talking to Felix. That tells me right there that he is up there waiting for us.

I believe animals go to heaven. Heck, I have 5 German Shepherds up there waiting with my father. I told them I'd see them there and I fully intend to keep my promise! What a reunion it will be! :cloud9:

Here are two of my favorite poems on the subject, please share with your aunt. :grouphug:

After Death, by Edwin Arnold

Farewell Master yet not farewell.
Where I go, Ye too shall dwell.
I am gone, before your face,
A moment's time, a little space.
When Ye come where I have stepped,
Ye will wonder why ye wept.

I explained to St. Peter,
I'd rather stay here,
Outside the pearly gate.
I won't be a nuisance,
I won't even bark,
I'll be very patient and wait.
I'll be here, chewing on a celestial bone,
No matter how long you may be.
I'd miss you so much if I went in alone,
It wouldn't be heaven for me.

I don't think it's particularly important to be "right" about this little point of theology. If heaven is with my God, then I'm sure heaven is with my dogs too. :)

I believe dogs and cats do go to Heaven and for exactly the reason you state. God wants us to have that which we loved and delighted in and if means dogs and cats, they will be there.

Boy I hope so! I better show up with a big bag of pig ears and kitty treats :teeth:

If there is a heaven, and I end up going there, it will not be heaven unless my pets are there with me. If I end up there and they don't, I want to go wherever they are because then that would be heaven for me.

TOV

I don't believe they do. And I hope they aren't there, the last thing I'll need is allergies in heaven

Doesn't Revelation talk about horses in heaven? And Jesus leaves heavan to return to Earth on a white horse too, right? That's enough for this Bible believer!! My beloved pets will be there, along with extra animals to compensate for the ones I've wanted to adopt but was told no by my folks or DH. I'll finally have my farm but without vet bills :cheer2:
