Do you think alot of people cancel just before the month deadline?

Despite my very best planning attempts, it looks like we are going to have to push back our planned early October trip to Disney. Unfortunately, I won't even know for sure if we have to change it or not for another month, but most signs are pointing towards having to change it. Anyways, we originally planned a trip in 2 standard view studios at BWV with other family members. So I called MS and checked on dates in later October through mid November just to get ideas. About 5 different weeks in all. We are trying to be pretty flexible...going for either a studio or a 1 BR, view is not an option I realize at this poing (for BWV). Well, most of the dates that I checked are completely sold out at BWV and BCV for both studios and 1 BR's. Really really really slim pickings. I was just wondering if anybody has any experience in finding availability free up much more when it is within a month of booking since people might have cancelled at the 30 day window or prior to keep their points intact. I am hoping that is the case so we can manage to get a room. Thoughts?

yes, i think dvc members book a couple of rooms for friends and family hoping they will go or sit on two ressies until they decide which ressies to keep and as the 30 day approaches they cancel which rooms they dont need, i wouldnt say everyone does this but i wouldnt be suprise if a few to alot do.

I hope people cancel, since I am on a waitlist for a 2BR at BWV for the end of October. I call MS occasionally, and they keep telling me the same thing, that nothing has opened up yet. I hope as the date gets closer that I'll get lucky.

That time is during the F&WF so everything at BWV and BCV will be booked. But like you, other may need to change plans, so don't give up hope. I don't think you will see 2 studios open up, at least not at the same time.

Good luck.

I think I posted this elsewhere, but we just made ressies for a 1 BR at VWL for Thanksgiving. We got all we wanted except for Thanksgiving Day itself. The gentleman at MS said, "I can't give you a guarantee, but at 31 days out for a holiday period, a lot of members cancel reservations they made at their window. You shouldn't have any problem."

We'll see.

I had to cancel at BCV this may because some days did not clear before the 31 day cancelation deadline to avoid holding. Someone else I know went down to the 7 day waitlist and didn't get anything. I think it is the luck of the draw. Maybe most of the time you will clear.

We've been on the waitlist a few times, and every time we've gotten what we needed. Once, it was like a week before our trip when we got the news that our request had gone through. (We had a res at one resort, but wanted another one.)

There's always the chance you won't get what you need, but my experience with the waitlist has always been good.
