Do you take your video camera??

Please if you do take the video camera be considerate of those behind you!
After waiting in a very slow line for Pooh (had FP for splash) a tall and big man and his wife were put in the car in front of myself and 2 kids all of use very short this was bad enough but as soon as we left the loading zone he pulled out a big video camera and proceeded to tape the whole ride blocking the only viewing area between their shoulders that there was. I hope he enjoyed the video because it is filled with me asking him to move the camera, and me encouraging my 5 year old to verbalize how he couldn't see any of the Pooh characters we waited 40 minutes to see. When we got off I told the CM but she just shrugged and wouldn't do anything about it. I should have insisted on being allowed into the fast pass line but my 11 year old didn't want to miss splash and it was our last night so we left but it still iratates me 2 years later.

We take both a still digital camera and a video camera. We video taped MVMCP last Dec and I can't tell you how much fun we have had watching that video. It always brings back the feelings we had while watching it and just so we wouldn't miss out on anything we went twice, once with the cameras and once without.

We plan on doing the same thing for MNSSHP this year.

I taped it twice...the first time, got the whole parade. The 2nd time, got my DDs reaction to the parade. It is SO cute. They're dancing and singing and clapping...I love watching that video. And, everytime my DD(who's 1.5 yo) hears me put the video on, she literally runs across the room, jumps in my lap and says 'wanna see mickey'. Shell sit and watch the whole video over an over. I would say definitely bring it, just use it when you want to. most rides, I didn't tape (too difficult w/the 1.5 yo) and I wanted to experience it with DDs. I did tape parades, fireworks, 'walks' either on my own, or when DDs were snacking, TTA, Aladdin, our resort view, etc.

I brought my camera... its small... and light.. and instead of carrying a purse i carried my camera bag... it wasn't a big deal. I used it quite often (not as often as I thought, though). But a lot of the shows you can record now.. I wish I would have known or I would have recorded more. If you have it out all the time (which i pretty much did) its good for those "OMG" moments that you want to remember forever.

I really wish I had it when I went to Disney World with the cheerleaders many years ago... we had a lot of great memories, and most of them are fading now. I regret not buying my camera before that trip.

I originally decided I wasn't going to bring it on my next trip, but then I changed my mind, especially now that I know how to make dvds outta them.

I wouldn't even think of not taking it!! To us its not a big deal to have it in the backpack with all the other stuff you have to tote to the parks with little ones!!

I take it, but I don't film in the rides, because it would distract others and lessen their enjoyment.

I film the street shows, the people with me, the buildings, my room, etc.

And I have hours of film of the castle, the ball, and the tree.

The bad part is that you can't appreciate the things around you as much while you're filming as you do when you're fully experiencing them.

I would take it. I got a small sony dvd handycam this summer for my trip and it was great. Nothing beats wathing Fantasmic or Hallowishes when I'm dreaming of my next trip to the World. I also have two digital cameras that I bring with me. I have enjoyed both the pictures and video I have taken. I have a small backpack that I carry around the parks and eveerything fits wonderfully in it.

We brought our Video camera, but we only used it one day. We set aside a day specifically for videoing. DS did most of it. He videotaped the bus coming to pick us up, videotaped out the window on the entire monorail loop, videotaped a bride being brought to the wedding pavillion in a coach with the white horses (yes, we have footage of someone's wedding). When we got home, he loved watching the tape he made. If he'd been younger, he could have at least helped plan what he wanted us to tape that day. It was fun to have a video taping day.

We bought a video camera back in late 2004 (once we accumulated enough Amazon.com gift certificates from our credit card rewards). It was a great purchase! Since then, we've brought it on all of our vacations, including Disney. I love taping the parades and little reactions from whomever we're travelling with. I don't take pictures on the rides for obvious reasons.. besides, I want to enjoy the rides!

We also have a medium sized bag that can hold our video and snapshot cameras. The bag has a belt loop, which DH likes to use so that he doesn't have to leave the bag hanging on his arm. (This leaves more arm space for shopping bags!).

I love watching the videos though. We have priceless memories of my Grandparents exploring the Italian pavillion in Epcot, and my baby brother flirting with the Princesses. The little brother is now 2 1/2 and just LOVES seeing the videos. It's one of the few things that will get him to sit on the couch and just watch, without getting into mischief in the meantime!

This year, we're taking our baby to Disney for the first time, so I'm sure there's going to be a LOT of videotaping. Of course, my in-laws are coming along, who are completely anti-video/photograph, so this should be interesting

I'm really torn on this too. We didn't take it the last time. It was our first trip, we had tons of stuff to lug around for DD and we didn't know what to expect. Sometimes I really wish we had video of it. I think it'd be fun to watch at home. BUT, I'm also one for traveling as light as possible. Ours isn't huge (we got in '01) but compared to today it's a gigantic. I'd like to have the memories of DD there, but I don't want to carry it around and make sure it's charged either. And like someone else said, I don't want to see Disney thru a 3 inch screen. I guess if we could afford a new one, It'd be a definite, but I'm torn with our old one.

I always took the video camera to WDW. Now that I have a digital camera, I too am a bit torn as to whether to bring one, the other or both. I would say if there is anything in WDW that you have not seen before (like if this is your first trip or they have new attractions that you haven't seen, or during the holiday programs) then by all means take the video camera.

For my upcoming trip, I think I will take the still camera.

We bought a video camera especially for our trip to WDW in 1999. We stayed for two weeks and we filmed in each of the parks, but not every day. I am so glad that we did this as we have a record of how great our trip was and precious footage of my DS who is now 11, but was not quite five years old on that trip! He is really cute, singing and dancing and meeting the characters, and we all love watching the tape again and again, even my DD5 who had not joined our family at that time and cannot understand why she is not on the tape We did not film on the rides so as not to spoil anyone else's enjoyment, but we have footage of the parades and fireworks.

We now have a much smaller camera than we had then and we will be taking it with us when we go in April, together with a digital camera for everyday use. My DD5 can't wait to have her own dvd of her time with Mickey and the gang!
