Do you take your video camera??

We are considering this but wonder if it will be a pain. I just know how much the girls are going to enjoy the trip but do not want to have to juggle a million things.

I guess it would depend on how big your camera is. We bought a very small digital video camera and brought it with us this past visit. We taped the fireworks, wishes, tarzan all different things. We love having it. Although we will not bring it all the time. If it's little and you don't have much else to carry, I would say bring it. It's the taping of the characters with the kids that are priceless and just a little more something then pictures. I wish I would have had this camera when my kids were little. A lot of littles things were missed.

I'm trying to enjoy Splash Mountian, and six people in my boat have their video cameras on I never saw the ride, just bright LCD monitors all over the place

Ride the rides....Buy a tape if you want something to watch at home. Leave this work to the pros. Too many cameras ruin the rides for others

That is what I was wondering if it was a pain. We do not even own a video camera but my friend does and we were going to borrow hers.

I remember people had a tripod in Disney the last time we were there and would set it up and run in front of the camera.

We bring a still camera for infrequent snaps. The video camera stays in the frozen tundra while we are in florida.

I always take ours into the parks. Its a little more of a hassle to use, but the memories that are captured are well worth the hassle. We have a Sony TRV-22 (small) and while it doesn't take very good stills, it takes wonderful video that I put on the computer and edit then burn to a DVD. If our DS 6 is with us, I would NEVER leave the video camera in the room. Watching these videos later to see our son interact with the characters and how much he changes from year to year is priceless. Everyone has to decide how their priorities are about this kind of video, but I feel that if you have kids and a small video camera its worth it.

I just got a mini-DV camcorder last month and brought it with us last week. It was the best single improvement to my enjoyment of my trip I could imagine. Now I have real live video of my DN6 and DN1 having their first Disney experience. I recommend definitely trying to capture as many of these special family moments you can, while you're still able to!!!

We did when dd was little and those videos are some of my most precious possessions. That was back when the cameras were bigger and heavier.
I hated lugging it around. Now that she's 11 we don't bother much anymore.

You will kick yourself if you don't take it after you get back home. I have such wonderful memories and can watch them when ever. Your own does not compare to the ones you buy. I videoed all the Christmas things this last December and they are so priceless to me. Sure it may be a pain sometimes but as stated it depends on the size of your camera. I have a small Sony but not real small. Have a large fanney pack that fits into easy.

ITA and DW was really mad at me in OCT when she asked where's the camera I said I was tired of watching Disney through a 3 in screen.
I told her is we missed something or she wants to see something we will just have to make another trip down.
Now I did just buy her a nice new still but I want that for the Photopass people to take with theirs as well and some shots when they are not around.

We take both a still digital camera and a video camera. We video taped MVMCP last Dec and I can't tell you how much fun we have had watching that video. It always brings back the feelings we had while watching it and just so we wouldn't miss out on anything we went twice, once with the cameras and once without.

We plan on doing the same thing for MNSSHP this year.

Are you one to sit down and watch the videos?? I much prefer looking at pictures, so I've never regretted not taking video. The one trip we decided to take it when DD was 3, it fell out of our backpack the first day and broke. We've never messed with it again and much prefer the hundreds of pictures we take.

We did both: My wife took the photos and I took the video. I suspect we'll watch the videos quite a few times. We had such a great time the two times we've watched them so far.

If you do like to watch the videos take it with you!....Mike wants to watch the videos ALL the time!!!

He is one of those guys that likes to tape everything....the walk into the park...the walk out...the walk up to the ride (but not the ride!)...etc.

I do have to admit it is fun to watch them and remember some of the fun things we did or crazy comments that were said and it might be a nice memory to have if it is your girls first time there and there first time meeting the princess or their favorite characters

So, if you think you really will watch the tapes again....and if the video camera is a manageable size try it out.

We take a videocamera (sony handycam) and a digital still camera with us everyday into the parks. We have small backpacks that have a special camera pocket on the bottom for them so we don't have to wear them around our necks all day and if it rains can put them away. We don't tape every minute, but characters, meal times, new things, and funny things that happen.

When we get home we can't wait to look at all the pictures as well as the video. Pictures sometime don't do things justice the way good video can. We used to take way too much video, but now just enough to edit with the pictures into a movie on DVD (I do this for a living though so I love to edit and make movies)

Long ago, when the children were small, we used to take and use that very large video camera. Never left home without it and when the smaller camera came out I purchased one, but lately, now the kids are grown and gone but still go to Disney with us, we leave the camera home.. I use a digital still and take over 200 pics every trip but I found out that my videos were of our family rear ends or them standing and waving that the bother of lugging it around wasn't worth the effort. I pose all my stills, get great landscapes with the family member and its very small and slips into my hip bag just find. Me and wifey really like to travel light when doing Disney, bulky back packs, heavy purses etc seem to bog us down so now the video cam stays home. But I have tons of the kids movies from many previous trips when they were young and its just us old fogies and our daughter and SIL most times now.

My twin girls (10 yo now) have danced with Alice in the "Share a Dream Come True" parade. They were called up to participate in the "Festival Of The Lion King" show. They banged the drum at "Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends" show to call out the animals. And I was the guy getting soaked in the PT boat show on MGM's "Backlot Tour". We ALWAYS take our mini-dv camcorder. It is pretty small so we keep it in the small backpack we carry with us at the parks. I don't tape the rides but you never know when a magic moment is going to happen, so I always have it with me. I usually only use one tape for the whole week, but what I have gotten has been pretty special.

We do. We have a smallish camera bag that holds both our digital video and still camera's. So it's not a big deal to carry around with us. We don't take tons of video, mostly of the kids and any shows we know we'll want to watch again. It's nice to have a general "taste" of the trip.

I totally take the mini-dv and the digital still camera. Both were very easy to carry around in our fanny packs The mini-dv footage is classic, because I am able to modify it and turn it into an actual movie with words, music, fades etc on the laptop!

And like everyone says, you sure do get that disney feeling when you watch them again

We definitely bring our still digital. Last year our camcorder was broken and we found out right before we left. This year we will bring it but we don't record everything. We get the girls here and there, take pics here and there, although DH takes pics and wants to record everything!!!
