Do you take your laptop?

I bring my laptop because I own an online business and have to have access.. just some stuff my blackberry doesn't do :(

I took my laptop on our trip last December and I won't ever travel without it. Just very convenient to catch up on emails at night, look up touring info on allears.net or the disney website. It is quite a pain to fly with a laptop now, but still worth the effort, IMO.

I always bring it. Especially when we go in the summers and come back for lunch and a break. DS loves going on that Disney XD site and playing games. If Disney had more than 10 working channels I probably wouldn't. There's only so much Stacey that I can take.

Yes, unfortunatley I take my laptop. I'm going to school to finish my undergrad (online classes) and I'm taking 12 credits per semester so I dont have much of a choice. And believe me, there's nothing worse than being on vacation at WDW and having to go back to the room to work on/submit a paper or an assignment :headache:

AMEN to that! I am on the other end of the spectrum. I teach online classes and I often have to go back after a day at the parks and answer student questions and such, and trust me, it is hard to garner enthusiasm when all you want to do is take a shower and fall into bed. Personally I'd love to be able to leave the laptop at home and be able to breeze though security without one!

I do as much as I can from my blackberry but it just isn't enough most of the time. However it is nice to download the pics to off the camera to the laptop, so there's one plus!

I take my iPod Touch for movies and music on the plane. That I will never leave home without! :thumbsup2

I would bring it just for unloading pictures every day from your memory card. Unless you have a HUGE memory card, you don't want to worry about running out of space! I work from home so I don't think I want internet access while I'm there. I'd be too tempted to do a little work or "check in". I have an iPhone so I can look stuff up on that and post Facebook updates for my family!

I want to bring my laptop just in case I need to access anything. However my laptop is ancient and I dont feel like lugging it. I actually have wanted to buy an iPad for some time and feel this is the trip for it. I travel a lot with my friends and it will be a great addition to my travels. So will def buy an iPad for this trip for the flight and web surfing.

We didn't pay for internet but it was fun to look at all the pics from the day

Yes, they look much better than on the LCD on a camera ;) You can also see how they came out and if there are any pics you want to try and have a do-over, at least you can spot them while you are there :thumbsup2

Also, for those who don't know - if you are at a Disney resort and you have your computer but don't want to pay internet fees, you can still access the Photopass website to view your pictures. There is no charge for this.

I never knew about this. How do you access that?

I bring my netbook.

Mainly to put our photos and video onto each day to have a back up.

We will be in a couple of DVC resorts next trip too, so it'll be nice to have the free internet access so I can check in with home now and again.

It's also really handy for checking things like opening times/weather/bus times or anything else you might need to know while on vacation.

I really wish we had taken ours back in 2007. Our camera was stolen on the last day and all our pictures were gone. Now we take ours on every vacation to download our pictures to. Plus, this trip is work for DH (convention at CR) so he has to take his. We also like to be able to check weather, hours, etc. although now most of that can be done with our phones.

I bring mine on every trip I go on. Last year I'd just gotten my new phone (Motorola Droid) so I would use it for checking my email and such, that way we only paid for internet for a day or two so we could do things we couldn't on my phone. But I will freely admit that on my first WDW trip I paid for internet every day. I'm too much of an internet junkie!

Even on the days without internet I'd use my laptop to download my pictures, and sometimes I'd start editing them while laying in bed and winding down for the day, or while still waking up in the morning.

We are bringing our laptop. I want to use it to download all our photos/videos each day, as well as back them up to a USB drive. Plus each day/night I would like to type out a journal of our day. We may let the kids Skype their grandparents halfway through the trip. I also plan out putting some tv shows/movies/games on it just in case anyone gets sick during our trip (knock-on-wood!).

We will be bringing a laptop, but only for work emergencies and to update our trip blog (yes, we're geeks). And, of course, as others have mentioned, it's a convenient photo-dump. I am a big into photography (I use a 16 gig card in my camera), and DH takes his own photos too, so we're talking hundreds of pictures a day to clear off our cameras. Of course, we don't want to pay the wi-fi fee at the resorts, so DH is looking into getting a Droid with tethering abilities this summer.

DH usually has his for work he needs to do on our trips. Not sure if I will take mine or not since it is a no parks trip it may be nice for rainy days.

I bring my laptop to load each days video on there from my video camera.

I say yes because I like it when people post on the DIS with trip related stuff while they are at the park. So bring your laptop to post trip updates to entertain me.

We always take our laptop. If nothing else, I post pictures each evening on Shutterfly so our families can see pictures of the kids.

That is a really good idea. I never thought about uploading them onto shared folders. :thumbsup2
