Seniors going through the cue and not riding the ride

My MIL had a stroke last year and she has never been to Disney. We are taking her this year. Her mobility is great, she just has a severe blind spot in her eyes. I would like for her to experience the cue lines of some of the rides but I know she will not be able to ride some of them.

Has anyone had experience of a member of your party going with you to right before you get on the ride and them meeting you when you get off the ride.

I would hate for her to sit and wait for us to ride if she can’t. I do know that this is possible on Tower of Terror bc my parents did it before.

Sure, that's fine. Done all the time by many guests, for many reasons

Enjoy your trip with your MIL. She'll love it.

I would think all rides have an "escape route". The first time our dd went in the Haunted Mansion, she didn't make it to the ride. She and my husband were led out a different way.

Can you picture theme park security forcing guests, in queue, to ride?
Rides have a "chicken" exit. Read the warning signs. Age isn't listed. The list often indicates pregnant women, guests with back issues....
The chicken exit at ToT requires using a regular elevator. Some guests get concerned.

I've been on that elevator repeatedly as my very young child at the time always wanted to ride but it was not for me.

I'm glad you started this thread. I am going next Wednesday and the two others I am going with really want to do Tiana's Bayou, but I'll be wearing jeans (and I'm a weenie and really don't want to get wet and don't want to bother with extra rain clothes). I'll still do lightening lanes with then etc. and just skip out at the end I think.

This will work I'm assuming with an exit for me there.

I Love the Rockin’ Roller Coaster queue at HS. Sometimes I can go on it but most of the time I can’t so I just walk through with my family and step through the car at loading. 🎸:dancer:

the "chicken exit" gave me a chuckle...:rotfl2:
When TOT was new, I did not want to ride but joined my family in the queue to leave before riding. Back then, once you declared you did not want to ride, they pulled a rubber chicken out of their pocket and dangled it in the air and goaded one with it loudly as they led you to the chicken elevator…most hilarious. 🤪

And the queue for Expedition Everest (regular, not solo rider side) is especially interesting, with all the artifacts Joe Rohde brought back.

If you want to ride Tiana's, You can grab one of those cheap pocket-sized ponchos to put over your jeans - just toss it when done.

I actually did do Tiana's I brought a light long raincoat with me that I wore and that really helped me not get too wet.

I’m a big fan of standing in line with family then bailing out through chicken exit. Never knew this was possible until I saw Angela do it from vlogger Dis our Dream.

You needed a vlogger to figure this out? Take a 4 year old, chicken exit happens often, lol

Haha , I’d be in a lot of trouble if I “took” a 4 year old . I do enjoy tips from some vloggers as Disney has changed a great deal and I don’t have the luxury of visiting often. Guess I’ll have to be more observant. I just hate to stare when someone has to exit with a frightened child.

I am not one to ride certain rides. I get motion sickness and I just don't like bigger rides like Tower of Terror. I will get in line with DH and then use the chicken exit to not ride. Some rides you duck out sooner then when you get on the ride but I know for sure Smugglers Run, Star Tours and Flight of Passage you are together on you get on the ride. Star Tours has nice benches to sit on right outside the ride and still in air condition.

I'm taking my mother in September. She'll be using a scooter and wants to wait in the lines with us. Will this be a problem with the chicken exits?

It won't work with Pirates, scooters don't go in the queue, same with Peter Pan. It probably won't work with Tianas, scooters get diverted before entering the building. That was true for Splash, assume the same.
