Do you take your kids out of school to go??

I've no problem taking out kids in the early years for 5 school days. I mean, it's not like he's going to miss a science lab day or a new trig lesson. Plus, when my son was smaller I'd do extra work at home with him anyways. :teacher:

We took him to Mexico this past winter, teacher was fine. I mean, what a life lesson, he saw a different culture, learned the value of learning another language (we had a hilarious time trying to order ice cream in Spanish from McDonald's) and learned some street smarts (navigating through foreign airport, customs, dealing with agressive vendors). I never went anywhere until I was an adult, want my children to experience it all!

He'll be in gr. 7 this trip, so it'll probably be the last one until he graduates, unless he's a super genius in high school.

OH YEAH, I also plan the trip when there's an inservice day so he's only missing 4 school days instead of 5.

We will be pulling our 6 yr old from school in Dec for a week. I think as long as a child is doing well in school and makes up any missed work - i see no reason not to pull them out!

I have been to Disney in July (once) and will NEVER do it again! It was way too hot and the lines were absolutely horrible! This was before FastPass, but I've seen the FastPass fill up by 11:00 a.m. at the end of September when the parks were empty by comparison!

We have gone 3 times in Sept/Oct and LOVE it! The longest that we had to wait for any attraction was about 10 minutes. We did use the FastPass for Soarin' and Everest this past trip, but were "scheduled" to come back only an hour or so later.

This will be our first December trip and I hope it's the same as Sept/Oct:)

Well next year will be a first of taking them out for more than 2 days. But I'm blaming the school board. I booked our trip for this year based on how many days they get for Christmas and those dates from previous years.

Surprise Surprise -- their last day will be the 21st (the date of our return)

I've already talked with DS's teacher -- she doesn't mind. Thank Goodness. 10 days is a long time IMHO.

Slightly off the school question but you are going to LOVE December if it's not Christmas week (if you're pulling from school probably isn't). The Christmas decor is simply magical and the characters are dressed for Christmas and/or Winter. Don't miss the Very Merry Christmas Party and Osbourne Lights! Have fun!:santa:

I'd love to and would consider it but the twins are going into 4th grade and 3rd grade was enough of a challenge plus they got sick so often during the winter this year that I would be affraid of how many days they may wind up missing. I would really love to take them fo MNSSHP before they are to old to care. We'll see.

I'm a SAHM and DH's schedule is usually pretty flexible with advance notice so we could pretty much go anytime. I also have a little one that will be 4 next year, so her schedule isn't yet an issue.

We're taking the kids out and of course they have a week off, and we're having them miss the whole next week! The teachers are ok with everything though
