Some friends have offered to let my DH and I take their little camcorder on our vacation, and we are not sure if we would use it. Do you take one? Should we take them up on their offer?

Thanks!

For the last 4 trips averaging 7 to 10 days in length I shot 6 to 8 hours of video each. I'm in recovery now and will use the Disney photographer next March, but we do enjoy watching our vacation DVDs in the middle of Winter. Take it, use it, but don't forget to experience the trip in the moment.

Yes I take one. I love having videos to look back at.

Absolutely!! It will be so much fun to look back at.

Our oldest is now 20. I caught him showing the tapes from our first trip 10 years ago to his girlfriend!

My family and I always take our camcorder despite the fact we've been there every year for years! I swear my dad takes a different video of the parade every year! I would take it. If you don't, you may regret it later. You can always leave it in your hotel room if you don't want to use it.

Have fun on your trip! :teeth:

I stopped taking ours as I was tired of seeing Disnet through a 3in screen. But I may have to take it for the X-mas trip as we have never been during this time before.

We have most of the rides and attraction on DVD so thats why i stopped.

I have a camera that takes mpegs. We never used our camcorder and now we always take mpegs.

:thumbsup2 I am on my 2nd miniDV camcorder, have used it at WDW and DL. I use that along with pinnacle studio to edit and have AWESOME, fully edited professional looking DVD's to watch when we are missing dis- or now I watch them while I am away from the family for a year...either way, great memories and well worth the effort to keep them.

I planning on taking my camcorder with me when we go in August. I also use Pinnacle studio to make great DVD's of what I have recorded.

we bought one at walgreens drug store on vineland road for $80.00 it waqs well worht the purchase...it takes a 512 meg video card. it fits in you hand and it take great video..if you go on walgreens web sight you will seeit..i have people on every trip aask where i got it ..its not bad for the $$$we haVE HAD OURS FOR 2 YEARS NOW AND NO TROUBLE..

We do and we love having it. Like Bill from PA said, it's a great thing to have when you dont' have a trip planned and you can curl up and remember your vacation. I watch all of our videos a ton! And sometimes you'll get rides, attractions, and shows that will close in a few years, so it's neat to have those as well.

We take ours. It just fun to go back and re-live our vacations :happytv: The camcorders are small now so its really not a hassle to carry it.

We always take out camera and camcorder.. but the camcorder usually ends up staying in the room because we are just to lazy to carry both :rotfl2: since our camera does take .mpg's when we want to record something we usually just end up using that... :thumbsup2

I do remember when my parents used to take me though, they videotaped everything... I go back and watch those tapes and love the memories they bring back :goodvibes

We take ours but usually get tired of recording after a couple days. Watch out for the water rides!! We made the mistake of sitting in the splash zone at Sea World last year and our camera got soaked (what part of "Splash Zone" didn't we understand?!?!?). Luckily it dried out and worked fine after a couple hours!

I'd say it depends on whether you have kids or not. If you don't, there are so many places to get "good" videos online of the parks/rides, etc., that yours is certain to be nowhere near the quality. Plus it gets frustrating when one person is always in the video and the other is always staring through the screen. I always feel like I can't talk to DH when he's filming because I'll "ruin" the video, but in the meantime miss pointing out things to him that we'd both enjoy seeing or discussing.

If you have kids, definitely. Filming their reactions to the rides, shows, characters is something you can't live without and much better than any of those rides, etc. themselves! It was such a hassle when they were little but now I wish we'd filmed more and treasure what we do have.

We took ours and it stayed in the locker most of the day. It is just me and DH. The only thing I took video of was the parades. I am trying to decide if I want to take it on the next trip or not. I guess it is always better to take and have it their if you decide to rather than not taking it and wishing you had it.
